Alaska Cruises
Alaska Cruises Vancouver
Starting in the cosmopolitan Canadian city of Vancouver, your luxurious voyage takes you first along the 23 mile straight of the Burrard Inlet to the magnificent Vancouver harbour, one of the most enchanting natural harbours on the Pacific Coast.
Alaska Cruises Gastown
Next, its onto the historically important town of Gastown, where you can disembark and explore on foot the charismatic streets of this living museum', where the streets are paved with quaint cobblestones and ornate lampposts illuminate the way. Truly romantic, even the most hardened heart will fall in love with the local craft shops, bistros and cafes. Around the same district, you will encounter Chinatown, which is an unusual venture to say the least, as it is draped in Englishness, evident in the double-decker buses, cricket grounds and tea parlours around. Look out for the pristinely manicured Chinese forests and well - tended lakes, plus the Vancouver Aquarium, exhibiting over 8,000 local sea - life species.
Alaska Cruises Skagway & Puget Sound
Many of these can be viewed on your passage to Skagway in the waters of Puget Sound, where thousands of unique fish and other sea - life reside, as well as hundreds of indigenous bird species. Upon arriving, you will feel a real historical influence. Skagway, and in particular, Klondite, was the scene of a massive gold rush between 1897 and 1898, and the fruits of this instant prosperity can still be seen all around, from the Yukon railroad to the many authentic saloons and bars designed in a French/U.S. frontier style dotted around the area.
Alaska Cruises Juneau
Keeping with the frontier feel, but moving towards a more modern, cosmopolitan environment, we see Juneau, which has maintained a rustic charm despite being a contemporary city, as you would expect from Alaska's capital. What really will blow your mind, however, is the fact that this metropolis is dwarfed by glaciers and mountains all around, which themselves are subject to frequent hiking and climbing expeditions, thanks in part to the amazing scenery, which overlooks crashing waterfalls and alpine meadows.
Alaska Cruises Revillagigedo Island
Away from mainland Alaska we find Revillagigedo Island, a small and tranquil sanctuary with only two towns to mention and explore; Saxman, and the main city, Ketchikan. Within this village, Alaska's proud fishing and logging traditions can be observed, perfectly captured in the carvings of the World's most extensive totem pole collection, and finely crafted kayaks which can be hired and taken out onto the rivers and lakes under supervision.
Alaska Cruises Mendenhall Glacier
Nearby, gaze out onto the vast ice fields and the enormous Mendenhall Glacier, home to its very own rainforest and unique animal and plant life. From brown bears, to squirrels, goats, salmon and porcupines, the array of wildlife here is phenomenal. Be sure to breath in the fresh air and take in the sights before the round trip back to Vancouver.
