Goa – The Beach Holiday With Added Spice!
Visit India to experience a melting pot of cultures and laze on the idyllic, sandy shores where the beach is lined with palm trees. South Goa offers you relaxation with beautiful tropical gardens, picturesque beaches and an insight into India's rural lifestyle. The north offers a selection of bars and inexpensive food along with beautiful sandy beaches and there is plenty of opportunity to shop at the colourful markets.
North Goa
Candolim is a lively bustling area with plenty of restaurants and shops. There is a beautiful, broad, golden sandy beach backed by dunes and offering excellent watersports. Nearby Calangute is a bustling village resort set beside the beach. The main street is lined with local shops, bazaars, tourist stalls and a range of restaurants offering local cuisine. Baga offers a more picturesque setting with miles of golden sand and a big, ever-present street market. Evening entertainment is mainly hotel-based.
Journey time from airport: 2 hours approx.
Central Goa
Vainguinim Beach lies on the coast with low hills rising inland. It has a good range of watersports and a diving centre. Panjim is dominated by a large cathedral and bars and restaurants can be found lining the narrow streets. Arossim Beach lies close to the town of Cansaulim just south of Vasco da Gama. It is a small local village with most tourist activities hotel-based. Bogmalo Beach is south-facing and the beach is fringed by a few stalls for some shopping. Some aircraft noise may be heard.
Journey time from airport: 1 hour approx.
South Goa
The hotels of South Goa are all situated close to the 10km stretch of pristine beach extending south from Benaulim which has, for several years, been considered Goa's jewel. This area, which includes the resorts of Cavelossim, Mobor Beach and Varca Beach, has a wealth of history and culture, from baroque churches to local bazaars. Cavelossim is a busy resort with many shops and restaurants, whilst just a little further south by the mouth of the River Assolna lies Mobor Beach consisting mainly of a cluster of hotels.
