The trip was good, we had an excellent guide the only thing i did not like was the stops to the shops and markets and some of the hotels were not as clean as expected.

29-Sep-2016

I thoroughly enjoyed the holiday, but too much time was spent in taking us to places to shop, and therefore not enough at the places of interest.I also was not happy with the final transfer arrangements which I will address with you separately

One thing I did not put in the e-mail previously sent was that for my wifes birthday I organised a cake through the tour guide for which I paid her 350RMB. I later found out the cakes were priced at 100-150RMB. So I feel I had been taken advantage b...

Beautiful China

Isabel 26/08/2011

China – just the name conjures up images of mysterious, glamorous and historic places along with incredible sights, sounds and smells to entice the senses. The problem was how to experience as many of the wonders of China at an affordable price and with no hassle. We found the answer by taking the Beautiful China Tour with Archers Holidays.

Yes, it was hectic. Yes it was tiring. Yes, we were up early and in bed late but it was all so worthwhile to see and do so many things.
From the moment we left Birmingham to the time we returned the whole tour ran like clockwork. We were met in Shanghai by our kind and ever patient tour manager, Li, who nurtured us through 5 internal flights, a bullet train ride, 8 hotels, the river cruise, 1 cable car ride, 1 chair lift trip, 1 rickshaw ride, numerous boat trips, a multitude of entrances to sights of interest, copious amounts of food and endless bus trips. She was a font of information and had the knack of helping a diverse but like minded group of 31 travellers to gel as a group.

There were so many highlights that it is impossible to pick out just a couple to comment on. Every day brought new experiences from seeing silk being produced to witnessing music being played on a huge structure of bells which was over 2,000 years old. We saw new, modern, bustling cities like Shanghai, Beijing and Xian where crossing the road was scarier than being in a cage of hungry lions. We saw the rural tranquillity of the Li River where the water buffalo grazed peacefully along its banks. We saw the magnificence of the Great Wall, the Terracotta Warriors and the Forbidden City. We learned a huge amount about the culture, geography and history of this amazing country. We tried many new foods and even learned to eat with chopsticks.

The quality of the hotels, food, excursions and guides was first class. Thank you, Archers, for a fabulous holiday. We came home with 1,000 photographs and a million memories..
