DAY 1 : UK - Toronto.

Fly to Toronto where you will transfer to your hotel for 2 nights.

DAY 2 : Toronto - Niagara Falls - Toronto.

See Toronto's major landmarks, including the banking district, City Hall, the CN Tower and Roger's Stadium. Next, enjoy a visit to thundering Niagara Falls. View the falls from scenic points along the edge of the gorge, then go on board the sightseeing cruise for a close up view of the river below the falls. NOTE: The operation of the Niagara Falls sightseeing cruise is subject to favourable weather and/or river conditions. When unfavourable conditions exist, a walking tour through the scenic tunnels will be offered.

DAY 3 : Toronto - Kingston - Ivy Lea - Ottawa.

Leave Ontario's capital and stop in Kingston, a city with an exciting history dating back more than 300 years. Continue to quaint Gananoque and Ivy Lea, where you'll enjoy a scenic cruise along the St Lawrence River, past wooded islands dotted with beautiful summer homes. Then proceed along the route of the Rideau Canal to Ottawa, Canada's beautiful capital city.

DAY 4 : Ottawa.

Queen Victoria chose this small lumber town as the site for Canada's capital, neatly avoiding the conflicting views of Toronto and Montreal. This morning visit the Canadian Mint, the embassy district and stately Parliament Hill. Also, visit the Royal Canadian Mounted Police stables. Suggestions for this afternoon include the magnificent Canadian Museum of History or the array of restaurants and shops at the lively Byward Market. NOTE: Due to seasonal hours, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Stables will be closed and unavailable for the following departures 31 Aug, 7, 14, 21, 28 Sep and 5 Oct 2017 - subject to change.

DAY 5 : Ottawa - Quebec City area.

Today, drive into the French-Canadian province of Quebec, where you will notice a change in language and tradition. Travel along the picturesque Ottawa River Valley to arrive in historic Quebec City, the heart of French Canada and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

DAY 6 : Quebec City area.

Enjoy an included guided tour of Quebec City which is North America's only walled city, crowned by the great turrets of the Chateau Frontenac. Old Quebec was the centre of New France and is now one of the most historic and best-preserved cities in North America. Within the walls are the Place d'Armes, the Laval Seminary and the star-plan Citadelle. Also see the stone houses crowding the narrow streets of Lower Town and ancient Place Royal by the St Lawrence River, and the historic Plains of Abraham where General Wolfe stormed the slopes. The afternoon is free.

DAY 7 : Quebec City area - Montreal.

This morning, why not take an optional excursion to Erabliere le Chemin du Roy Sugar Cabin for breakfast and a guided visit with a presentation about maple extraction? Afterwards, head south to cosmopolitan Montreal. As you enter Montreal, see the canted tower of the Olympic Stadium. Major attractions on this afternoon's guided sightseeing tour include Old Montreal and the Seminary of St Sulpice, Mont Royal and modern Montreal. In the evening be sure to try out one of the many sidewalk cafés specialising in French cuisine with a Canadian influence.

DAY 8 to 9 : Montreal.

A further two days to relax and explore Montreal. Why not visit the Montreal Museum of fine art housing a large collection of contemporary Canadian and international art or the Cosmodome one of the country's top science attractions? One of Montreal's unique attractions is its Underground City with around 2,000 shops, bars and restaurants.

DAY 10 : Montreal - UK.

Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK.

DAY 11 : Home landing in UK.

Cities of Eastern Canada

David Pooley 24/06/2015

Overall it was a very enjoyable tour, with interesting destinations and a good standard of hotels throughout. We were given plenty of information on the various places visited, both by the tour director and local guides. The coach was comfortable and the driver excellent. There wasn't time to see all the places of interest in every city but to do this would obviously require a longer (and more expensive) tour. Overall I think the balance of guided tours and free time was about right, particularly with the Halifax extension which allowed a free day in Montreal as well as a chance to take the optional trip to the Laurentians and Tremblant (well worth a visit). I do feel that those members of the group who returned to Toronto would have benefitted from an extra night in Montreal, as their time there was very limited. The transfer to Halifax went well once we had worked out where to book in and obtain meal vouchers, and arrival in Halifax itself was dealt with very efficiently by the welcoming local representative.

A few suggestions: I think it would be a good idea to have a "get together" at the start of the tour to give people a chance to meet, as once on the coach it as not always easy to get to know most of one's fellow passengers despite the seating rotation system. Perhaps a gathering at the hotel with a welcome drink

As the hotel in Quebec was out of the city centre it appears that a number of people booked the Quebec by night / restaurant excursion thinking that this would be the only way to visit the Old Town in the evening. This was not the case as the return coach journey was available to all tour members. The coach returned before it was completely dark (it was late June) but apparently there was a bus service for anyone who wished to stay later.

Thank you for an enjoyable trip.
