Diamond Jubilee Highland Experience Cruise (from Liverpool)

Why not visit Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle from Invergordon

This special cruise showcases the delights of Scotland and is a fitting celebration of Her Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Your Itinerary

DAY 1: Liverpool, UK.

Make your own way to Liverpool to join your cruise ship, Ocean Countess. (L, D)

DAY 2: Cruising the Western Isles.

Enjoy the ship's friendly service and sumptous food as you sail past some of the best scenery the UK has to offer. (B, L, D)

DAY 3: Aberdeen.

Home to the country's largest national park, a dramatically imposing coastline and of course the city itself, there is so much to explore in Aberdeen City and Shire. Fusing striking granite architecture, a rich and inspiring history, a dynamic modern arts scene and perhaps Scotland's strongest industrial heritage; the country's third largest city offers a host of treasures, just waiting to be explored again and again. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: Leith (for Edinburgh).

With streets steeped in history and a thriving cultural scene, Edinburgh is a must on any tour of Scotland. With an UNESCO World Heritage Site at the heart of the city Edinburgh combines the medieval Old Town, the Georgian New Town and award winning modern architecture. Exploring Edinburgh you will see views that make for perfect picture postcards, mysterious winding streets, elegant terraces and an abundance of shops, bars and restaurants. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: Invergordon.

Invergordon is a town and port in Easter Ross, in Ross and Cromarty, on the edge of the Highlands. It is a town with a tremendous history stretching back through two World Wars and is now a centre for oil-rig refurbishment and maintenance. Today, why not trace the shores of Cromarty Firth from Invergordon to Scotland's legendary Loch Ness, best known as home to the mythical 'Nessie'. Bask in the breathtaking beauty of the Loch's mountain setting and enjoy the views of ruined Urquhart Castle perched beside the water. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: Scrabster.

Belying its tiny size, Scrabster is one of the most important fishing ports in Britain. On the northeast coast of the Scottish mainland, facing the Orkney Isles across the sea, Scrabster is just a few miles from Thurso, the Highlands' second largest town, and within easy reach the Castle of Mey, the hereditary seat of the Earls of Caithness, later restored as a country retreat for the Queen Mother in 1952. Why not join the optional trip to John o' Groats, regarded as the most northerly point of mainland Great Britain? (B, L, D)

DAY 7: Fort William.

Fort William is the largest town in the highlands of Scotland only being exceeded in size by the City of Inverness. Fort William is a major tourist centre. Around Fort William itself, notable features include the southern end of the Caledonian Canal, with its cruising and activity options and Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: Rothesay, Isle of Bute.

Dominated by the 800 year old ruin of Rothesay Castle the classic Victorian seafront is a perfect way to spend the day on this small Scottish Island. (B, L, D)

DAY 9: Liverpool, UK.

Arrive in Liverpool and disembark after breakfast. (B)
