Best holiday ever wonderful places and magical atmosphere
some of the hotels were to far from the centre and not up to Archers normal standards.
Optional extras expensive we spent over €800. Which makes the holiday expensive for OAPs
We really enjoyed the holiday and had a great time, however I have only scored it as Good because there were a few annoying issues which you should be aware of
1.The very hard sell by Flora, the Tour Director in trying to sell the optional tours....
We really enjoyed the holiday and had a great time, however I have only scored it as Good because there were a few annoying issues which you should be aware of
1.The very hard sell by Flora, the Tour Director in trying to sell the optional tours. Not only did this “turn us off” from booking these excursions but by not going we felt we were treated poorly and given little information about alternatives
2.At the beginning of the tour the Tour Director explained the coach seat rotation system, but the failed to manage it in any way and as a result this was abused by several of the other passengers.
3.The Tuscan Hills Hotel was in a lovely setting but unfortunately let down by very poor meals and because of its isolated location there was no alternatives
4.San Marino – Had we been forewarned that we would not have access to our suitcases at the hotel and would have to pack an overnight bag we would have made prior arrangements for this instead of having to put clothing and toiletries into a supermarket plastic bag
5.The Naples Hotel – lovely hotel in a terrible location – we were warned that it was unsafe to venture out at night, almost being forced to take up the optional excursion
6.Poor tour guide in Rome (Vatican Optional tour) as a result of her failings and wanting to take us to a shop we were unable to visit inside St Peters Square where the Pope was giving Mass. A lot of people on the tour were very unhappy about this.
Some excursions were expensive and in some places if you didn't do an excursion you were limited to doing anything else due to the location of hotel e.g. at Hotel Aqua Viva.
one of the best tours I have done the tour director Guianluca the best ever in 30 years of traveling but Sienna should have been an included not an optional

Firstly, the tour guide, Guiseppi was terrific and really added to the holiday. A very clever young man with a vast knowledge of the country.
Some parts of the itinerary were badly chosen. The visit to the leather shop in Florence and the glass blowing in Venice were little more than attempted high priced shopping ventures.
The hotels were fine but those at Venice and San Marino were not good enough.
The additional excursions were massively expensive but Italy is the most expensive country that we have visited.
Overall, a memorable holiday.
Not too bad value - excursions should be a lot though to be fair
The overall tour was excellent we really saw lots of Italy the tour director and driver were excellent the tour group all got on very well the extra excursions were good but we felt maybe too many the excursion to San Gimignano and Sienna we thought ...
The overall tour was excellent we really saw lots of Italy the tour director and driver were excellent the tour group all got on very well the extra excursions were good but we felt maybe too many the excursion to San Gimignano and Sienna we thought should have been included the Sistine chapel was excellent as we were fast tracked as if you did this yourself would have involved queing for hours. The hotels were overall very good particularly the Titano in San Marino very helpful staff in the Buenos Aires in Rome. The hotel Aquaviva in Tuscany was in lovely location but very basic food. Overall we enjoyed our holiday and would recommend this tour to anyone though be prepared for some a hilly walking .
The only comment that I would make is with regard to the hotel in Naples. The location is poor and we were advised, by the tour director, not to walk outside the hotel in the evening. Also the included dinner at this hotel was very poor and one of th...
The only comment that I would make is with regard to the hotel in Naples. The location is poor and we were advised, by the tour director, not to walk outside the hotel in the evening. Also the included dinner at this hotel was very poor and one of the tour group was served two very small pieces of potato with the main course. We couldn't get the tour director to sort this as he was at a family party. The next day he did say that he suggested a restaurant that we could go to but as this would have involved a taxi ride plus the additional cost of the meal no-one took this up.

We enjoyed the holiday although the food provided in the hotels was very poor to appalling, with one exception the evening meal in San Marino. The trip to San Gimignano and Siena should have been included in the scheduled itinerary rather than provided as an option, particularly as the selected hotel was in a location of no interest. An overnight stay in Verona would also have been welcome by all the tour party.
Good but too long a time at some places and a lot of standing around with local guides
Some hotel food was poor and one meal was under cooked
Good guides and tour director. A good deal of easy walking. Lots of food !
Too many optional excursions which gave us less time in verona and other places because we had to get back to the hotel so those who chose to go on them had time to get ready for mainly evening meals , seems unnecessary and extra expense.
Again on the whole good but room for improvements. The food in the hotel in the Tuscany hills was not good at all. It would also be better to have one less night in Tuscany and have a night in Verona.
We also felt there was no need to have an opt...
Again on the whole good but room for improvements. The food in the hotel in the Tuscany hills was not good at all. It would also be better to have one less night in Tuscany and have a night in Verona.
We also felt there was no need to have an optional extra included for meal in Sorrento as there were plenty of resturants to eat in.
Well thought out tour
