Afterwards, drive through classic Tuscan landscapes past the hill towns of Chianti before arriving at your hotel for four nights. Includes Breakfast

DAY 3 : Tuscan Hills at leisure.

Spend today relaxing at leisure or take our optional excursion to two of Tuscany's most enchanting towns. With its pepperpot-shaped towers, cobbled streets and tall townhouses, hilltop San Gimignano looks as if it has bypassed time itself. Another medieval masterpiece, Siena's narrow lanes and russet-painted mansions cluster around its famous Piazza del Campo. Shaped like a scallop, this café-lined square is the setting for its fabled Palio horse race. Includes Breakfast, Dinner

After a short drive and a boat trip along the Giudecca Canal, arrive in what is arguably the world's most beautiful city, Venice. An independent state and major maritime power during the Middle Ages, its narrow canals, ornate footbridges and exquisite architecture never fails to impress. Best holiday ever wonderful places and magical atmosphere

03-Oct-2016

some of the hotels were to far from the centre and not up to Archers normal standards.

30-Sep-2016

Optional extras expensive we spent over €800. Which makes the holiday expensive for OAPs

18-Sep-2016

We really enjoyed the holiday and had a great time, however I have only scored it as Good because there were a few annoying issues which you should be aware of
1.The very hard sell by Flora, the Tour Director in trying to sell the optional tours....

14-Sep-2016

Some excursions were expensive and in some places if you didn't do an excursion you were limited to doing anything else due to the location of hotel e.g. at Hotel Aqua Viva.

31-Aug-2016

one of the best tours I have done the tour director Guianluca the best ever in 30 years of traveling but Sienna should have been an included not an optional

17-Aug-2016

Firstly, the tour guide, Guiseppi was terrific and really added to the holiday. A very clever young man with a vast knowledge of the country.
Some parts of the itinerary were badly chosen. The visit to the leather shop in Florence and the glass b...

Not too bad value - excursions should be a lot though to be fair

20-Jul-2016

The overall tour was excellent we really saw lots of Italy the tour director and driver were excellent the tour group all got on very well the extra excursions were good but we felt maybe too many the excursion to San Gimignano and Sienna we thought ...

29-Jun-2016

The only comment that I would make is with regard to the hotel in Naples. The location is poor and we were advised, by the tour director, not to walk outside the hotel in the evening. Also the included dinner at this hotel was very poor and one of th...

Excellent

29-Jun-2016

We enjoyed the holiday although the food provided in the hotels was very poor to appalling, with one exception the evening meal in San Marino. The trip to San Gimignano and Siena should have been included in the scheduled itinerary rather than provid...

27-Jun-2016

Good but too long a time at some places and a lot of standing around with local guides
Some hotel food was poor and one meal was under cooked

20-Jun-2016

Good guides and tour director. A good deal of easy walking. Lots of food !

14-Jun-2016

Thoroughly enjoyable

05-Jun-2016

Too many optional excursions which gave us less time in verona and other places because we had to get back to the hotel so those who chose to go on them had time to get ready for mainly evening meals , seems unnecessary and extra expense.

31-May-2016

Again on the whole good but room for improvements. The food in the hotel in the Tuscany hills was not good at all. It would also be better to have one less night in Tuscany and have a night in Verona.
We also felt there was no need to have an opt...

Well thought out tour

21-Apr-2016

Fabulous whistle- stop tour of Italy. Exhausting but exhilarating. Tour guide Armando is such an asset to your company. Endless patience, good humour and genuine delight in showing us his country.

19-Apr-2016

A full on tour of an amazing country. It's done at a very fast pace possibly not suited to the less mobile. We struggled with some of the hilly excursions. On the whole a good choice of hotels but the included food left a lot to be desired. Even on t...

Italian Showcase

D. Anderson 17/08/2014

Three weeks ago my family and I returned from holiday on the Italian Showcase Tour. I am writing this to say what a wonderful tour this was and made so much more that was expected by the excellent tour guide and our safe driver. Our tour director, Sabina, was very knowledgeable and passionate about the country and the commentaries whilst we were travelling to various destinations was very interesting and was not only given about the particular towns we visited but also about the surrounding areas. The excursions were always well organised and the local guides we had also were excellent, the whisper headsets were a great bonus as all were clearly heard even if you were at the back.

The hotels we stayed in were really nice and even those that were smaller were all very clean. The Hotel Aquaviva in Casole d’Elsa was such an oasis of calm and beauty, with such a view to wake up to, it was a favourite with us.

Our driver, Umberto, was also excellent, we felt very safe in his ability especially as he had to manoeuvre in some awkward spaces and roads. Umberto was always cheerful and ready to help. Sabina too was a cheerful, calm and helpful person. She was very good when she had to help sort out cancelling bank cards, etc.

I had been hoping that we would enjoy this trip as, many years ago, I had a similar tour with my mum and I had hoped that my children would have memorable moments to last a lifetime. I am glad to say that they do and especially when celebrating their birthdays on the tour in such wonderful places as Pisa and Venice. They each had a candle in their desserts on their respective birthday.

The tour was everything we hoped it would be and we just wanted to write to let you know what a good tour Cosmos provided and it has given us a taster of many towns and cities, some we may visit in the future. The smaller cities were also a delight and unexpected beauty surrounded us. It was a great addition on the tour.

We had a great holiday

Yours faithfully

Italian Showcase

Stephen Gale 02/11/2012

This was our first organised tour as a couple of forty somethings, so I'd like to share with you some of the pros and cons.

Overall it was a superb 15 days. A nicely balanced mix of culture, history, sightseeing, great food and shopping. I would choose the Showcase over the 8 day tours because you spend less time on the coach and there's so much more to see! This is a touring holiday so expect to be on the coach by 8.30 prompt after breakfast! Some days earlier. It didn't bother us but one or two grumbled. The hotels are of variable quality. Our favourite was the Tuscana Ambassador in Poggibonsi, with a lovely supermarket on the other side of the car park.

There were numerous highlights on the tour as you can imagine. The Capri chair lift is essential.Villa D'Esta and Villa Adriana in Tivoli are must-sees. Rome, Florence, Siena & Venice are simply the greatest cities on Earth! Lesser gems like Ravenna, Padua, San Gimingnano, Verona and Urbino are wonderful. Hunt down the Tattoria La Torre off the Piazza Del Campo in Siena for yummy Tuscan nosh. Don't forget the Gelato (Ice Cream) too! I would liked to have spent more time in Ravenna and Naples (of which you only scrap the surface). The tour party adds to the experience.

Best time to go? We went in October which can be affected by the weather. I would choose late May/early June before it gets too hot and the flowers are out.
