Today, visit one of the most recognisable sights in the world on a full day excursion to Mount Fuji. An active volcano that last erupted in 1707. Locally known as Fuji-san it is Japan's tallest peak. It is surrounded by 5 lakes and after a stop at the visitor centre there is an included cruise on Lake Ashi. Afterwards, take a cable car ride (weather permitting) for unforgettable views of spectacular Mount Fuji, Lake Ashi and the surrounding area. Includes Breakfast
Leave the modern skyscrapers of Tokyo behind and head for the Ancient Capital of Japan, Kyoto. This is a highlight of your holiday and you will board Japan's one of Japan's high speed trains (bullet trains) locally called shinkansen and are operated by Japan Railways. Running at speeds of up to 320 km/h, the shinkansen is known for it's punctuality (most trains depart on time to the second), comfortable in relatively silent cars with spacious and always forward facing seats. The journey will be no longer than 3 hours to cover the 318 miles/ 513kms between the modern and ancient capitals of Japan. On arrival in Kyoto you will be met and transferred to your hotel, the remainder of the day is free for you to relax or explore. Includes Breakfast
Today you will be met by the local guide to enjoy a tour of Kyoto, visiting many of the city's temples, shrines, palaces and pagodas. One of the highlights of the tour is a visit to the extraordinary Nijo Castle, built in 1603 as the official residence of the Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. The ornate gardens that surround the flat-land mountain castle are some of the best in Japan. Also included is a visit to Kinkaku-ji, the Temple of the Gold Pavilion and the Imperial Palace, one of Kyoto's leading temples. Its' formal name is Rokuon-ji. It was built at the end of the 14th century originally as a villa for Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the shogun at the time. Includes Breakfast
