Your Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Malaga.

Fly to Malaga where you will be met and transferred to your ship, Adventure of the Seas, for embarkation. (D)

DAY 2: Valencia.

Home of paella, vibrant Valencia is Spain's third city and boasts a chequered past of Roman and Moorish occupation. Fringed by golden beaches, its centre is a compelling blend of sunny plazas, Gothic churches, gardens and modern skyscrapers, all now flanked by the surreal new City of Arts and Science - a futuristic cultural complex comprising spectacular steel-and-glass museums and planetariums. Today, roam around the charming centre where narrow alleyways weave around the ornate Cathedral, a stunning Romanesque-Gothic-Baroque edifice said to be the resting place of the Holy Grail. Once inside, climb the coiling staircase of its octagonal tower to soak up the inspiring panoramas over the city below. Later, admire Valencia's main square, the Playa del Ayuntamiento, the fine Museo de Bellas Artes and the Torres de Serranos, part of the city's original 14th century gate. (B, L, D)

DAY 3: At sea.

DAY 4: Civitavecchia (for Rome).

Today, don't miss an optional excursion to witness the glory that is Rome. Italy's capital overflows with Roman, Renaissance and Baroque treasures, making it a sightseer's dream. Witness the vast and glorious St Peter's Square, the majestic St Peter's Basilica and splendid Clemente's Basilica before enjoying a guided tour of the mighty Colosseum, where gladiators once fought for their lives, cheered on by 50,000 baying spectators. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: Livorno (for Florence or Pisa).

On the western shores of Tuscany, 16th century Livorno is the gateway to two of Italy's most poetic cities - Pisa and Florence. Founded in 1577 by the Medici family, its photogenic centre is an easy walk from the port and features lovely canals, bridges and plazas fringed with chic cafés and shops. Nearby, Pisa is famed for its amazing Leaning Tower and magnificent cathedral while Florence, the capital of Renaissance art, is home to the magnificent Uffizi Gallery featuring works by Michelangelo and Da Vinci, the Piazza del Duomo, the statue-filled Piazza della Signoria and the fairytale Ponte Vecchio bridge (B, L, D)

DAY 6: Ajaccio.

Located on the island of Corsica, Ajaccio is a modern, laid-back coastal city with an interesting historic district. The town hosts a variety of dining and shopping options, with outdoor cafés complemented by a mild, pleasant climate. Well-known as the birthplace of Napoleon, the region has many historical attractions including the grandiose Napoléon monument, which looms over the Place de Gualle. (B, L, D)
