Your Itinerary

DAY 1: Dover, UK.

Make your own way to Dover to join your cruise ship, Braemar. Your ship will depart late afternoon, latest embarkation time is 4pm. (D)

DAY 2: At sea.

DAY 3: Bergen.

Bergen is the country's second largest city and gateway to the fjords. Join an optional excursion to explore the ancient Bryggen area, with its beautifully preserved wooden Hanseatic buildings dating back to medieval times. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: Kristiansund.

Arrive early afternoon and enjoy a half day exploring this small but modern town on Norway's north west coast. There are museums show casing the town's fishing and boating history as well as Varden the lookout tower with 360 degree views over the picturesque mountains and the fjord cutting into the land towards Trollheimen. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: Trondheim.

Norway's original capital was rebuilt in the 17th century and stands against a stunning natural backdrop. There's time to explore this vibrant medieval city, with its montage of handsome, old and new architecture. Enjoy an optional visit to Nidaros Cathedral, the country's largest medieval church, and to Ringve Gård, an absorbing manor-house music museum. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: Ålesund.

One of Norway's most picturesque fishing ports, Ålesund enjoys a beautiful setting across several islands stretching into the sea. Devastated by a fire in 1904, the town was rebuilt in a delightful art nouveau style including towers and turrets with intriguing echoes of ancient Nordic mythology. Why not take an optional tour of the city and surrounding area to admire breathtaking panoramic views from Mount Aksla and the Borgundfjord, visit Godoy and other Giske islands, or perhaps take a tranquil cruise on Hjorundfjord? DAY 7: Flam, Sognefjord.

Set on Sognefjord, the world's longest and deepest fjord, Flam Valley is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with towering peaks and cascading waterfalls. To fully appreciate the magnificence of the region, why not take an optional scenic train journey? The train makes regular stops to allow you to take in the spectacular views. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: Eidfjord.

This morning, arrive in Eidfjord, a tiny, tranquil village in the serene Hardangerfjord, located on the mouth of the Ejo River. Don't miss an optional excursion to explore the Hardangervidda Nature Centre at the upper end of Eidfjord Lake, with its stunning exhibits, aquarium and wide-screen media showcases on the Hardangervidda National Park. This breathtaking National Park is the largest in Norway and is inhabited by a significant number of protected wildlife. (B, L, D)

DAY 9: At sea.

DAY 10: Dover, UK.

Arrive in Dover this morning and disembark after breakfast. (B)

Tipping

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines operate an automated tipping system whereby an amount of £4 per adult per day will be added to your on board account at the end of the cruise. Gratuities will be shared equally between the cabin stewardesses and dining room waiters. Anyone wishing to vary the amount will be able to do so via the Reception desk.
