Your Itinerary

DAY 2: Amsterdam.
The Dutch capital is a charming and cosmopolitan city with a wealth of sights to enjoy. Famed for its graceful, tree-shaded canals spanned by 1,000 bridges and lined by 17th and 18th century gabled merchant houses, it also boasts numerous world-class galleries and museums, including the magnificent Rijksmuseum filled with Dutch masterpieces, and the Vincent Van Gogh Museum, home to over 200 of his paintings as well as hundreds of his letters and drawings. Today, why not enjoy an optional cruise along the city's 'grachten', passing under picturesque arched bridges and admiring landmarks such as Anne Frank's House and the famous Skinny Bridge? Alternatively, join an optional excursion to the picturesque village of Zaanse Schans to see centuries-old working windmills and visit a typical Dutch cheese farm. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: Flam.
Nestled amidst precipitous mountain slopes dotted with green farmland and tumbling waterfalls, Flam is a delightful small town set on a tranquil tributary at the southern end of Sognefjord - Norway's longest and deepest fjord. Why not visit the Flam Valley on an optional excursion and ride the famous Flam Railway: one of the world's greatest train journeys? The train makes regular stops to allow you to take in the spectacular views. (B, L, D)
DAY 5: Stavanger.
Stavanger, one of Norway's oldest towns, is a cosmopolitan city located on the southeast coast on the Byfjord. Packed with charming traditional architecture and whitewashed wooden houses, it is no wonder that Stavanger was European Capital of Culture in 2008. Why not explore this beautiful city on an optional city tour and admire the 12th century cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Norway and the colourful market square? Pass Ledaal Manor, now the King's residence and the sandy beaches of Jaereb before returning to the ship. Alternatively why not join a relaxing optional boat tour of Lysefjord to view the magnificent scenery and the impressive Pulpit Rock, which towers 600m above the fjord? (B, L, D)
DAY 6: Oslo.
Located at the head of a vast fjord, Norway's capital has many fine buildings, museums and monuments, conveniently centred around Karl Johans Gate. These include the spectacular Royal Palace, the Edvard Munch Museum, which houses some of the artist's best works, the Viking Ships Museum, and the excellent National Gallery. To really make the most of this fascinating capital, why not join an optional city tour, which will show you highlights such as the Royal Palace, National Theatre, Parliament, City Hall, Vigeland Sculpture Park and Akershus Fortress? Fans of military history shouldn't miss the Resistance Museum, which traces Norway's resistance to Nazi occupation in World War II and the Armed Forces Museum which includes a vast collection - from Viking artefacts to the tools of modern warfare.
