Your Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Naples - Rome.

Fly to Naples where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Rome for three nights.

DAY 2 to 3: Rome.

The Italian capital never fails to delight, offering up classical antiquities and amazing monuments wherever you turn. Your included tour with a local guide today showcases the very best the 'Eternal City' has to offer. Wonder at the fountains and colonnades of St Peter's Square, step back in time at the Roman Forum and marvel at the Colosseum, where gladiators fought up until the 5th century. Later, make the most of your time in this glorious city by choosing from our great-value optional excursions, including a dinner outing. (B)

DAY 4: Rome - Vesuvius - Pompeii - Capri or Anacapri.

This morning witness one of the world's most awe-inspiring sights - mighty Mount Vesuvius, mainland Europe's only live volcano. After gazing at this natural wonder, continue on to the remarkable ruins at Pompeii. Buried under ash when Vesuvius erupted in 79AD, your guided walk through the excavations lead you past villas, baths, shops and most movingly of all, plaster casts of the victims. Next, ride a ferry across the Bay of Naples to Capri to stay for two nights. (B,D) Note: On occasions the crossing to Capri may be made by hydrofoil, which involves baggage restrictions - your Tour Director will explain these if necessary.

DAY 5: Capri.

Spend the day discovering the delights of this tiny island, whose rugged cliffs are peppered with sea caves, including the famous 'Blue Grotto'. Once here, most visitors head for the jetset haunt of Capri Town. You'll find cobbled streets crammed with designer boutiques, shops and restaurants wrapped round a charming main square, La Piazzetta. Join our optional tour of Capri's highlights or enjoy one of the island's lovely walks, discovering its beauty close-up. (B, D)

DAY 6: Capri - Amalfi - Sorrento.

Today begins with a ferry ride back to the mainland and a drive along the breathtaking Amalfi Coast. Soak up the thrilling views as you travel the hairpin roads of this fabled stretch of coast, passing terraced lemon groves, whitewashed cliffside towns and sparkling bays. Stop in picturesque Amalfi to admire the Duomo di Sant'Andrea. (B, D)

DAY 7: Sorrento.

The day is yours to explore the charming resort of Sorrento as you wish. Take in the stunning views from its clifftops, browse its chic shops, relax in its alfresco restaurants or delve into its quaint medieval quarter. (B)

DAY 8: Sorrento - Naples - UK.

Transfer to the airport and your flight to the UK, or extend your stay in Ischia, Sorrento, on another tour or on a Mediterranean cruise. (B)

On certain departures the tour may operate with overnights in Sorrento on days 4 and 5, followed by two nights in Capri on days 6 and 7.

The time on the island is yours to spend as you wish, and there is an optional introductory excursion to ensure you make the most of your time. Absolute "musts" are a trip to the world famous Blue Grotto, making your way to a high point to enjoy some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery you will ever see, and having a drink in the Piazzetta square, as the day draws to an end and serenity falls across the Island.
