DAY 2: Ljubljana - Postojna Caves - Zadar.
Begin today with one of the real highlights of your tour - a visit to the beautiful subterranean world of the Postojna Caves, the largest known cave system in Slovenia and one of Europe's most extensive underground networks. Enjoy a mini-train ride through the caves to admire the diverse and captivating stalactite and stalagmite formations. Later, head across the border into Croatia and along the Dalmatian Coast to Zadar, a picturesque, historic town and the former capital of Dalmatia, for some sightseeing and an overnight stay. The area has a chequered history of rulers, from centuries under Venetian domination and Austro-Hungarian rule prior to World War I, to Italy and, after World War II, Yugoslavia. Now it is part of Croatia: free, busy and full of life. (B, D)
DAY 3: Zadar - Split - Dubrovnik.
Journey to the beautiful coastal town of Split, Croatia's largest city, spectacularly set overlooking the gleaming waters of the Adriatic. Rich with a varied and vibrant history, Split is dominated by the splendid Palace of Diocletian, a dedicated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the city?s highlights on an included sightseeing tour before continuing further along the Dalmatian Coast to the picturesque port of Dubrovnik for two nights. (B)
DAY 4: Dubrovnik.
Known as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', Dubrovnik is perched on a promontory that juts into the sparkling blue waters of the Adriatic Sea. As one of the Dalmatian Coast's most beautiful resorts, the city is famed for its striking buildings, squares and fortified walls as well as its plentiful shops, cafés and restaurants. For an insight into the history of this beautifully preserved medieval city, enjoy a walk around the city on the included sightseeing tour. (B)
DAY 5: Dubrovnik - Neretva Gorges - Mostar - Sarajevo.
Journey across the border into Bosnia-Herzegovina and relax on a scenic drive through the rugged countryside of the Neretva Valley, a luscious and fertile area rich in wildlife and dissected by a vast, sparkling river. Next, enjoy a stop in the former Turkish garrison town of Mostar, now the chief city of Herzegovina, to view the Stari Most Old Bridge, after which the city is named. Later, visit the historic city of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina and a city with a distinctly Turkish influence. The included sightseeing tour provides an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the city and its architectural highlights including mosques, markets and bazaars. (B, D)
DAY 6: Sarajevo - Plitvice National Park.
Cross the border back into Croatia for a visit to one of the country's best-known landmarks, the spectacularly scenic expanse of Plitvice Lakes National Park.
