Your Itinerary
DAY 1: Depart UK.
DAY 2: Arrive Rio de Janeiro.
On arrival you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for the next three nights.
DAY 3: Rio de Janeiro.
Rio is renowned for its exhilarating lifestyle and stunning beaches. Your included half day tour takes you to the major city sights, such as the historic San Sebastien Cathedral, Candelaria Church and the attractive National Library, Fine Arts Museum and Rio's famous Sambadrome, site of the famous Carnival parade. From here, take two cable car rides up Sugar Loaf Mountain to witness the unforgettable views of the beach, city and mountain. The afternoon is yours to experience the energy of the city - why not visit the world famous Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon beaches or stroll around the beautiful Tijuca park and the Imperial Botanical Gardens. Alternatively, join one of our optional excursions to tour the beaches of Rio followed by a visit to Corcovado Mountain where Christ the Redeemer looks out across the city. (B)
DAY 4: Rio de Janeiro.
A full day to immerse yourself in this marvellous city. For a truly unique experience, choose an optional cruise along the placid green waters of Sepitiba Bay, where you will have the opportunity to relax and swim at one of the beautiful beaches and enjoy a tropical style lunch. Alternatively, why not take our optional full day tour to Petropolis, the former summer retreat of the second Brazilian emperor with its Crystal Palace, Cathedral of St Peter and charming squares. In the evening, why not take part in the optional visit to a folklore and carnival show, full of skilled dancers, samba bands and entertainers. (B)
DAY 5: Rio de Janeiro - Iguassu.
This morning, fly to Iguassu for two nights near one of the great natural wonders of the world, Iguassu Falls - a chain of dramatic waterfalls set in emerald, wildlife-rich jungle. Visit the Brazilian side of the falls where, by walking along catwalks and paths, you will enjoy magnificent views. (B)
DAY 6: Iguassu Falls.
Your morning begins with a visit across the Tancredo Neves Bridge to the Argentinian side of the falls. Briefly stop at the visitor's centre before proceeding to the up river and down river falls. Next, board the Ecological Jungle Train that will take you to the most sensational viewpoint of the falls - the Devils Throat. (B)
DAY 7: Iguassu - Manaus - Amazon Rainforest.
Fly to Manaus, the state capital of the Amazonas. Your rainforest experience begins with a boat journey along the Rio Negro to your overnight accommodation, the Amazon Ecopark Lodge. Located in Rio Taruma, the lodge is situated in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, and with over 6 miles of trails, you will be given prime opportunities to explore the jungle with its orchids and giant trees. (B)
DAY 8: Amazon Rainforest.
Prepare for a memorable experience with a full day's included sightseeing, comprising of fascinating rainforest walking tours and canoe rides with local native guides, who will share their knowledge of jungle wildlife and flora along the way. (B, L, D)
DAY 9: Amazon Rainforest.
Spend the day cruising to the 'Meeting of Waters', where the black coloured waters of the Rio Negro river meet the sandy coloured waters of the Rio Solimoes. Here the waters of the two differently coloured rivers run together for 12kms, side by side, without mixing. If you're lucky you might even spot one of the grey or pink river dolphins that frequent this part of the Amazon. You will also get a genuine taste of Amazonian life, with a visit to an original cabocolo (native hut). Continue to the island of Terra Nova for lunch in a typical local restaurant. Your evening is free. (B,L,D)
DAY 10: Amazon Rainforest - Manaus - Salvador da Bahia.
In the morning, visit the nearby monkey jungle - an area created by the Living Rainforest Foundation for rescued monkeys. Afterwards, transfer back to Manaus for a city tour which includes a stop outside the magnificent neo classical Opera House, the marketplace and the bustling harbour. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Salvador da Bahia. (B)
DAY 11: Salvador da Bahia.
The capital of Bahia is strongly influenced by its 19th century slave trade, a past that echoes through its Afro-Brazilian culture, music and traditions. Our morning tour encompasses the city's charming 18th century buildings, baroque style churches and convents. On your tour, visit sights such as the Farol da Barra lighthouse, Municipal Square, the Lacerda Elevator for a breathtaking view of Baia de Todos os Santos, the city's UNESCO historic district of Pelourinho and the Sao Francisco Church, built by Jesuits in 1672. The afternoon is free, so why not visit the Lower City with its 18th century Catholic church, the Nosso Senhor do Bonfim or spend some time at the Forte de Mont Serrat, one of the best preserved battlements in Brazil. DAY 12: Salvador da Bahia - UK.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK, or extend your stay in Praia do Forte. (B)
DAY 13: Arrive UK.
