Splendours of the Seine Cruise - by Eurostar

The Louvre, Paris

Revel in the chic city of Paris before traversing a landscape of medieval castles, cathedrals and villages as you cruise through the heart of beautiful Normandy, admiring the splendours of the Seine.

Your Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Paris.

Take the Eurostar to Paris where you will be met and transferred to your ship, MS Seine Princess, for embarkation. After a welcome cocktail party and dinner on board, enjoy an introductory cruise along the Seine, passing many of Paris' legendary sights including the shimmering Eiffel Tower, stunning Louvre and breathtaking Notre-Dame Cathedral. (D)

DAY 2: Paris.

A fabulous day-long opportunity to savour the unutterable magic of Paris. Start with an optional tour of its landmark attractions, marvelling at everything from the soaring Eiffel Tower to the awesome Notre Dame, grandiose Arc de Triomphe and graceful Champs Elysées. This afternoon, there's free time to explore this beautiful city at your leisure, perhaps dipping into its chic shops and marvellous brasseries, or admiring the stunning collections of art and antiquities at the Louvre. (B, L, D)

DAY 3: Vernon.

After a morning cruising, arrive in the charming town of Vernon - the stepping-stone for an unmissable optional excursion to the Claude Monet Foundation in Giverny. Beautifully restored and maintained, this enchanting pink-and-green house offers an enthralling insight into Monet's everyday life and work. Tour this huge workshop, flooded in the gauzy natural light he loved, admire his pretty, blue living room and yellow dining room and marvel at the celebrated gardens which inspired many of his works, including the Japanese bridge and lily pond that spurred him to paint his 'Water Lilies' masterpiece. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: Caudebec-en-Caux.

Enjoy the scenery this morning as you cruise past charming villages and sheer cliffs towards Caudebec-en-Caux, a quiet town set around a historic square and ornate 15th century Gothic church. In the afternoon, join a fascinating optional tour following the legendary 'Abbey Trail' from Caudebec's church to the ruined, towered Abbey of Jumièges and onto the Church of St Pierre, a marvellous example of 10th century Norman architecture. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: Honfleur.

Enjoy an optional excursion to Normandy's 'Côte Fleurie' or 'Flowered Coast', passing romantic sandy beaches and the elegant resorts of Trouville and Deauville, before stopping at a Calvados distillery in Breuil Castle to sample the famous apple liqueur. Later, revel in the charms of colourful Honfleur, undoubtedly one of France's prettiest ports. Situated on the Seine estuary, this enchanting town has a higgledy-piggledy old quarter crammed with slate-roofed 17th century cottages and cobbled lanes, and boasting the medieval Church of St Catherine, which was made entirely from wood. An optional tour features all Honfleur's major sights, leading you through its picturesque streets to its quaint harbour, where the waters bob with tiny fishing boats. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: Rouen.

During breakfast, wonder at the views as you drift through serene valleys cast in the soft, subtle light that inspired many great impressionists. Grab your camera as you cruise under the stupendous Pont de Normandie, a massive cable-stayed bridge spanning the Seine, before arriving in Rouen. This afternoon, join an optional guided tour and immerse yourself in the haunting beauty of this historic city, where Joan of Arc was imprisoned, tried and burnt at the stake in 1431. Admire its crooked cobbled lanes, half-timbered houses and impressive cathedral before visiting the old market place where Joan met her death. (B, L, D)

DAY 7: Les Andelys.

After breakfast, your cruise continues to Les Andelys, arriving in time for an optional excursion to the Chateau of Martainville. Built in 1485, this museum of Norman Arts and Traditions displays an array of 15th and 19th century furniture, everyday costumes, jewellery and decorative objects. Return to your ship this evening and enjoy a gala dinner. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: Paris - UK.
