Your Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Brussels.

Join your tour by travelling on our free coach service from London for your Channel crossing to the Continent, where you will be met by your tour director and transferred to Brussels for one night. Alternatively travel direct to Brussels on Eurostar for a one night stay.

DAY 2: Brussels - Luxembourg - Basel - Lucerne.

Admire the delightful scenery as you drive through the Duchy of Luxembourg to its charming capital, also named Luxembourg, before heading south to the wine growing region of Alsace and crossing the border into Switzerland. From Basel, journey across the foothills of the Alps to the medieval town of Lucerne for one night. (B)

DAY 3: Lucerne - Innsbruck.

This morning, admire the beauty of Lucerne and perhaps join the optional excursion to one of the most beautiful mountain peaks before driving through the tiny principality of Liechtenstein and continuing into Austria. Pass the charming picture-postcard villages of the Voralberg and drive through the Arlberg Tunnel into the scenic splendour of the Inn Valley. Reaching Innsbruck, for one night in the area, admire the city's famed Golden Roof. (B)

DAY 4: Innsbruck - Venice area.

Depart early and journey by way of the spectacular Europa Bridge to Venice, a unique city on the water ribboned with canals. This afternoon, enjoy an included canal boat-ride, followed by an orientation and a chance to watch Venetian glass blowers fashion their delicate objects just as they did centuries ago, at a typical glass blowing factory. End your day with an optional Gondola ride along the along picturesque canals. Overnight in the Venice area. (B, D)

DAY 5: Venice area - Adriatic Coast - Assisi - Rome.

Drive across the Po Delta and skirt the Adriatic coast before crossing the Apennines en route to historic Assisi, the birthplace of the mystical St Francis, where you can marvel at the magnificent Basilica before continuing to one of the world's greatest cities, Rome, for two nights. (B)

DAY 6: Rome.

Rome, the 'Eternal City', is a city steeped in history, vibrantly alive and absolutely unique. Today's included sightseeing trip with a local guide starts in St Peter's Square, followed by a visit to the Roman Forum and the mighty Colosseum. (B)

DAY 7: Rome - Florence - Montecatini.

Reaching Florence today, discover the main sights on an included walking tour with a local guide. Take in the Piazza Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio, and the Duomo complex comprising the Baptistry and the famous Cathedral with the belltower designed by Giotto. Enjoy time at leisure in Florence before continuing to the delightful spa town of Montecatini Terme for one night. (B)

DAY 8: Montecatini - Pisa - French Riviera.

Journey to Pisa and stop to admire the legendary Leaning Tower and the Square of Miracles before travelling by way of Genoa and the Italian Riviera to the French border. Passing into France, enjoy a stop in the traditional town of Eze to visit one of its perfume workshops before heading to your overnight hotel on the French Riviera. (B)

DAY 9: French Riviera - Lyon area.

This morning, journey across wonderful Provencal landscapes and through the rich vineyards of the beautiful Rhône Valley to Lyon, for one night in the area. (B, D)

DAY 10: Lyon area - Beaune - Paris.

Marvel at the beauty of the Burgundy region as you pass lush vineyards and sun-kissed meadows en route to Beaune. Stop awhile in this medieval town, renowned for its wine production, before heading to Paris for two nights. This evening, a chance to attend a typical Parisian attraction, the optional cabaret show. (B)

DAY 11: Paris.

Enjoy a day to get a feel for this magnificent city - renowned throughout the world for its fashion, art and museums, delicious food and general 'joie de vivre'. Today's included sightseeing trip with a local guide takes in many of the best-known Parisian sights: Boulevard St Germain, Eiffel Tower, Opéra, Champs Elysées and the Rue de Rivoli to name just a few. Why not end this fascinating tour with an optional farewell dinner? (B)

DAY 12: Paris - UK.

Say farewell to Paris and head to the Channel port where your tour ends. After a short Channel crossing, join your coach service to London. Alternatively travel back to the station to join the Eurostar service to the UK. (B)

EVENING CITY SIGHTSEEING

See the main sights of this city which has something for all tastes and interests. Visit the beautiful Grand Place with its 17th century guild houses. End the evening with a visit to a typical Brussels historical café to enjoy a glass of old fashioned Belgian beer.

Contrary to belief, not all Swiss can yodel or blow the alp horn, but those you will see are real experts. They entertain you with merry melodies on the accordion and traditional dances while you enjoy a full 3 course dinner.

SCENIC LAKE CRUISE

An hour's guided cruise on the most beautiful lake in Switzerland gives you an introduction to this lovely city from a completely different aspect. With its many bays, it offers superb panoramas of the surrounding landscape. The area is rich in historical associations, particularly the William Tell legend.

MOUNT STANSERHORN

A trip up the Stanserhorn mountain for breathtaking views is an experience not to be missed. The Mt. Stanserhorn Railway is a combination of an old-time funicular, which has romantic 100-year-old carriages with fringed curtains. Part of the ascent is by the new "global first" cable car ( a doubledecker cable car with an open top).
