Western Wonders

If there were a theme to this tour, it'd be contrast. We take you from the calm serenity of Yosemite National Park and the Grand Canyon, to the wild, unabashed Las Vegas and LA. That contrast will keep you guessing throughout this holiday as you discover Arizona, San Francisco and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Beginning in Los Angeles, you'll start off with a taste of glamour at TCL Chinese Theatre where you can see how your hands size up next to Marilyn Monroe's or Frank Sinatra's, before going all Julia Roberts on Rodeo Drive and shopping while you admire the Hollywood sign from afar. You'll never want to leave Lalaland.

From here, you'll explore Scottsdale, Arizona. The desert will welcome you with hot weather, cowboys and steak; we certainly wouldn't say no. You can channel your inner John Wayne with the chance to eat at one of Arizona's Legendary Cowboy Steakhouses and visit Old Town Scottsdale where Western store fronts can't help but expand your imagination.

Las Vegas will bring you right back to the 21st century, though. Whether you're a big gambler, or you simply want to soak up the atmosphere, you'll find something to entertain you in Vegas; Cirque du Soleil perhaps, or checking out the latest Elvis impersonators (you could even elope!) Don't worry, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas…

Let's not forget Yosemite National Park, where waterfalls and forests will stun you; like reading Into the Wild again for the first time. There's also San Francisco and it's legendary bridge and the Grand Canyon.

But why listen to us; one customer summed it up perfectly: "For my first holiday abroad in 45 years I could not have picked a finer one". We'll see you there.

An excellent tour, and a holiday of 'contrasts' - exactly as outlined on the Archers website.

31-Oct-2016

One of the days of our tour happened to fall on Columbus Day which was a holiday in the USA. Our visit that day was to the state building in Phoenix which was obviously shut. I was not impressed that the company had arranged for us to visit state bui...

We also enjoyed this holiday although we could have done with more information from the tour director about the towns we went to and the areas we passed through

08-Oct-2016

What you see on this trip is amazing, from cities to mountains and canyons, every day is so different. The downside is getting up at 6 am each morning which can be very tiring and especially as you get no sleep in the cheap hotels that Archer's use. ...

02-Oct-2016

Quite good although rushed in some places. A couple of the hotels were not up to the standard we thought they would be. The hotel in Mamouth Lakes did not have any choice of places to eat in the evening as it was out of season for this hotel.

Really good value for money, DeAnna Roe was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The trip was better than I thought, packed full of great days. Thanks DeAnna.

30-Sep-2016

Our Tour Manager, Deanna was brilliant. The tour was good value for money. The places of interest were well chosen. The only suggestion I have personally, is to give thanks to God for His creation and I can fulfill that by going to Mass <br/>Sundays...

16-May-2016

It was a good and enjoyable holiday. Hotels booked were good apart from the one in Modesto. Also, I felt that if you could add breakfast (for which you will of course charge) - it would be helpful.

01-May-2016

We feel that this holiday tried to do too much with the result that the pace was a bit too hectic. At the major places which we visited there was little free time and much time was spent on the coach. One day we were driven 300 miles and 400 miles o...

Western Wonders

Christine and Nigel Jackson 30/04/2014

Just a brief letter to let you know that our recent coach holiday ‘Western Wonders’ was absolutely fantastic! The hotels we stayed in were varied, but typical of the areas in which we stopped. The itinerary was superb, showing my husband and myself many of the sights of California. The tour director, Craig Cherry, and the driver, John Harsnett, worked so hard to give everyone a really memorable holiday.

The knowledge of the tour director was extensive. He was incredibly well organised, humourous, inclusive and sensitive to all situations, some of which were not easy to handle.

We thought the holiday was great value for money.

Western Wonders

Julie Connah 10/05/2012

I would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation of the Western Wonders tour that my partner and I have just returned home from. The journey from Los Angeles, to Las Vegas, San Francisco and returning to LA was quite a remarkable tour and one that held surprises everyday. It was also extremely good value for money and upon returning home leaves you wondering if you really have seen everything you did.

In addition to this it is also an opportunity to say what a great tour guide we had, John Ploszaj. Although we completed a questionnaire providing comments on our opinion of the tour and the guide, I wanted to write directly stating that we found John’s knowledge of history, past and present, culture, arts and architecture, to name a few more than comprehensive. Each day we learnt so much and each day he has genuine enthusiasm which was contagious to the point that the day after the tour ended his bright ‘Good Mornings’ made the morning seem somewhat flat – it was a great kick start to every day. He was continually telling us facts about everywhere we went and even referencing future places we would see to the present ones. He was great fun and had a good sense of humour. We hope that you continue to contract him, in our opinion he is a great asset.

I would also like to say John Rivers was also helpful and polite thoughout the journey and hope that he continues to be contracted.

Once again, this is to express our gratitude and appreciation of a fantastic tour.
