Fly to Athens where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for two nights.
Enjoy a day at leisure in Athens today. Alternatively, why not join the optional three-island cruise on the Saronic Gulf to view Aegina, Poros and Hydra? This evening, enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the old Plaka District at leisure and stroll its narrow streets, awash with the sounds of bouzouki music and the lively bustle of local tavernas. Includes Breakfast
Explore the highlights of this ancient capital on an included Athens sightseeing tour, which includes the impressive Acropolis, before heading to the Corinth Canal to marvel at this incredible feat of engineering. Later, continue to Argolis, a hilly countryside region dotted with pine trees and oleanders, for a visit to the spectacular amphitheatre of Epidaurus. Admire the open-air theatre, a magnificent setting that can still seat 14,000 spectators before journeying along the coast to Nauplia for one night. Includes Breakfast
This morning, enjoy an included guided excursion to the ancient ruins of Mycenae, an impressive ancient city once dubbed the 'city rich in gold' by Homer. During excavation, the Golden Mask of Agamemnon was unearthed here as well as other priceless treasures that exactly match Homer's descriptions in the Iliad. Tour the museum at your own pace. This afternoon, drive through the beautiful Peloponnese region to Sparta for one night. Includes Breakfast, Dinner
This morning's highlight is a visit to the ruined Byzantine citadel of Mystra, once known as the 'Wonder of Morea'. Nestled on a forested hillside in the lush Peloponnese region, Mystra's crescent-shaped city was famed as a centre of culture and art and still contains distinctive churches and monasteries with elaborate frescoes as well as a palace and hilltop fortress. Later, continue to Olympia for one night. Includes Breakfast, Dinner
Visit Olympia to learn more about the history of the Olympic games on an optional sightseeing tour. This afternoon, cross the spectacular modern cable-stayed bridge between Rion and Antirion and stop to admire this wonder of contemporary architecture, widely considered to be an engineering masterpiece. Later, journey through picturesque villages to magnificent Delphi, for one night. Includes Breakfast
Spend the morning at leisure in Delphi or join the optional sightseeing tour of Delphi archaeological site. Once called 'The Navel of the Earth', Delphi was considered the greatest Oracle of the ancient world and people journeyed from all over the globe to seek advice here. Today it is still one of the grandest sights in Greece, with its theatre and Temple of Apollo still standing in their lovely natural surrounds. This afternoon, drive via Lamia and Trikala to Kalambaka for one night. Includes Breakfast, Dinner
Today's included trip is sure to be a highlight. Head to the heart of Meteora, where a cluster of monastic buildings sits perched atop natural pillar-like rock formations, hundreds of metres above the valley floor. Their spectacular and seemingly inaccessible position provided an ideal retreat for the hermit monks who lived here and today, the unusual monastery-topped rock spires provide an unforgettable sight. Later drive to Athens for an overnight stay. This evening, why not join our optional dinner at a typical Greek restaurant? Includes Breakfast
A full day at leisure to make the most of this fascinating ancient city. Includes Breakfast
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK or extend your holiday with a Greek Islands & Turkey cruise. Includes Breakfast

Overall we were very pleased with the tour and would consider Archers again for a holiday. There was a lovely mix of travellers from different countries which made it really interesting and the group interacted very well. The majority of the hotels were very good, one in particular stood out and that was the Olympian Asty, (smart, very clean hotel, with pleasant, friendly staff and great food). However, one hotel was extremely disappointing and that was the Antoniadis at Kalambaka. The hotel room smelt odd, as if they'd kept several dogs in there and there was black mould (?) over the bath. At least we didn't have waste water and soap bubbles coming up through the drain in the bathroom floor the way other members of the group did. The evening meal (included in the tour price) was reminiscent of school dinners, overcooked, tasteless, unappetising and served by grumpy dinner ladies! Restaurant staff were indifferent and far from friendly, whereas those on Reception were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast wasn't much better.
I think some more thought needs to go into the lunch venues; not everyone wants to eat a main meal at lunchtime after a large breakfast. The lunch stop at Mystra in particular offered an opportunity to buy food elsewhere if you didn't want to eat in the restaurant. As it happens we did eat in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Some of the other lunch stop venues weren't good value for money (fairly expensive and poor quality food); we certainly wouldn't recommend the fish restaurant on the coast (day 7?) whose name escapes us.
Apart from that, it was a really good holiday.
Superb tour - couple of poor hotels and disappointing meals, especially lunchtime stops.
The pace is just about right.

A fabulous tour of many of the wonders of Ancient Greece, with a wonderful Greek Tour Director who made sure everyone's needs were met. She always made sure that restaurant staff were aware that there were three vegetarians in the group, and that options were available to suit each of us.
Our Tour Director Margarita Dimou was very professional, approachable and had a way of making the whole group gel. The driver Nesteros was superb we all felt very safe.
The only issues were that the time allowed for excursions were all 15-30mins to short for the distances to be covered: where a one-way route was used, it was in a number of cases physically impossible not to be late!

Another great tour. Marieke our tour guide was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. She had all the timings down to a tee so we got to places like Delphi etc before all the crowds arrived. Kiriakos our driver was very good we felt very safe driving with him and he was always at the side door to help people to get down from the steep steps.

A very well organised tour, with a balanced mix of classical sites and other places of interest. Our tour guide Marieke was first class, keeping us well informed about arrangements and entertaining us with just the right amount of background history and insights into Greek life, well interspersed with amusing anecdotes. Her care for one of our group who had a bad fall was outstanding. We enjoyed the wonderful sights but also the cosmopolitan mix of people on the tour. The hotel in Kalambaka was disappointing with poor air conditioning. Staff at the Golden Age Hotel in Athens were most helpful and attentive. We booked all the add-on trips and meals out and enjoyed every one. Would recommend this holiday and company to others.
The Wonders of Ancient Greece was an eye opener for me.I saw so many ancient sites it was truly unbelievable.
