Named after the provinces of Holland and carrying fewer passengers than other ships in her class, the elegant MS Statendam has reset the industry standard. With two-tiered show lounges and dining rooms, deluxe staterooms, and verandah suites, the ship offers something for everyone, whether it be adventure or relaxation.
With more than 135 years of experience, Holland America Line is recognized as the undisputed leader in the cruise industry's premium segment. With the introduction of the 1,918-passenger MS Noordam in early 2006, Holland America Line's fleet grew to 13 ships.
Holland America Line's $150 million, fleetwide Signature of Excellence enhancements feature new programmes and amenities including the Culinary Arts Center, presented by Food & Wine magazine, a state-of-the-art on board show kitchen where more than 60 celebrated guest chefs and culinary experts provide cooking demonstrations and classes and the Explorations Café powered by the New York Times, the luxurious Greenhouse Spa, and all new cabin amenities highlighted by flat-panel TVs and plush-top Mariner's Dream Beds.

During the day, while on board or going ashore, we suggest casual clothing or sportswear and comfortable shoes. As it may be cooler in the evenings and when the ship is at sea, you should bring a sweater or jacket.
Evening dress falls into two distinct categories – smart casual or formal. Comfortable, relaxed clothing is fine for casual evenings . On the two formal evenings per cruise, women usually wear cocktail dresses and men, jacket and tie, dark suits or dinner jackets
Each night a daily programme will be delivered to your stateroom announcing the suggested dress for the following evening.
Please note that swimsuits are not permitted in the restaurants or lounges and shoes are required at all times. Long shorts are allowed in the main restaurant only during morning and afternoon hours and not in the evening.
A gratuity of $10 per person per day for dining and cabin services will be automatically added to your shipboard account on a daily basis. A 15% service charge will be automatically added to your bar charges and dining room wine account.
In terminals, airports, ports of call and on shore excursions, we suggest that you extend gratuities consistent with customary local practices.
For the comfort of all of our guests, designated smoking and non-smoking areas are available in most lounges. Smoking is not permitted at any time in dining areas. The ship does not feature "non-smoking" staterooms; however, all rooms are thoroughly cleaned after each cruise to assure the comfort of all guests. All showrooms are non-smoking during performances.
The US dollar is the only currency accepted on board. US travellers che ques are also accepted. In many ports of call, you can use your ATM card to obtain cash and most locations will accept major credit cards .
Please note: Foreign currencies or UK £ travellers cheques cannot be accepted or exchanged by the Front Office.
Electrical appliances should not be used in cabins (except razors with special adjustments for travel) without first consulting with your cabin steward. Hairdryers are fitted in all cabins. Ironing in the cabins is strictly prohibited.
