Discover Lake Garda, Italy's Alpine Flower
Lake Garda is one of Europe's most breathtaking sights and Italy's largest lake. Colourful citrus and olive groves proliferate in its delightful Mediterranean climate and the grandeur of the Alps forms a backdrop to charming old towns.
Riva
Set amongst beautiful mountain scenery at the north of the lake, Riva boasts a 12th Century fortress and clock tower in the centre of its old town. There are narrow streets lined with a variety of shops and restaurants. Boats and pedalos can be hired to take a trip out on the lake.
Malcesine
On the eastern shore of Lake Garda, at the foot of Monte Baldo, Malcesine is dominated by the 14th century Scaliger Castle which rises sheer out of the lake. It is a picturesque resort with a small harbour and a pretty old town, which teems with shops, cafés and restaurants. There are plenty of scenic walks nearby and to make the most of the stunning views try the panoramic cable car.
Garda
With a stunning backdrop of terraced vineyards, olive groves and velvet green cypress trees, this pretty town is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Garda. Once a quaint fishing village, parts of which date as far back as the middle ages, it now offers an elegant, colourful promenade, smart restaurants and traditional open air cafés.
Transfer time from Venice to Lake Garda: 4hrs approximately.
Naples Holidays
Sorrento is famed for its breathtaking views and enchanting atmosphere. With its many shops, boutiques, cafés and bars and close proximity to the ancient city of Pompeii and majestic Mount Vesuvius, Sorrento has all the ingredients for a perfect one or two week holiday. Naturally a wide range of excursions are available to the riviera's many and varied attractions.
Pompeii, the once thriving town destroyed in the terrible eruptions of 79AD is one of those ‘must-see' places, easily reached from Sorrento. See the remains of houses, streets, the Forum, all of which provide first class evidence of the ancient way of life.
Follow the beautiful Amalfi coastline for spectacular, ever-changing views. From high up on the winding road, look down over the blue waters, deep gorges, fishing villages and little bougainvillaea which create a brightly coloured view.
Separated from Sorrento by the bay of Naples, the island of Capri has long been a favourite holiday resort for the rich and powerful. The Island is a unique blend of laid back island-life, beautiful scenery and of course glitz and glamour.
Transfer time from Naples to Sorrento: 1hr 30 mins approximately.
Venetian Riviera Holidays
Lido di Jesolo is a lively and popular resort, offering 15 kilometres of long sandy beaches and a wealth of activities. Take a pedalo ride or try your hand at water-skiing. Tennis, mini-golf, bowling, go-karting and horse-riding are also available. Evening entertainment is plentiful too, with a huge choice of restaurants and bars centred around a palm-tree lined piazza. To experience the best of Italy you can even choose to combine a week in Lido di Jesolo with one of our fascinating Italian tours or a week in Montecatini Terme in Tuscany or on Lake Garda.
Lido di Jesolo is of course the perfect base for trips to Venice. Why not join us on a full day excursion to a city of unparalleled beauty and unforgettable sights? See St Mark's Square with its Doge's Palace and campanile bell tower, as well as the Santa Maria della Salute and the famous Rialto bridge. To complete your visit take a vaporetto or gondola to drift along the ancient waterways beneath exquisite renaissance bridges.
Alternatively, how about a trip to Verona, whose ancient centre boasts many magnificent Roman ruins like the 1st century Arena? Verona is, of course, the romantic setting for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet as well as the early comedy, Two Gentlemen of Verona.
Transfer time from Venice airport to Lido di Jesolo: 1hr approximately.
Ischia – A Favourite Since Roman Times
Known as the ‘island of well being' Ischia has been a famous resort noted for its beaches and its thermal springs since Roman times. At 34km in diameter (or about 20 miles in old money) it is the largest island in the Bay of Naples and notable for its rugged and beautiful coastline and rich volcanic underpinnings.
Why not make the most of this volcanic heritage and head for Fumarole in Sant'Angelo where steam emerges from the rocks to form a kind of natural outdoor sauna? Or climb to the top of Monte Epomeo for fabulous views in all directions right across the island and beyond.
In Ischia Porto, centred around the harbour, you'll find a range of bars, restaurants and nightclubs as well as the hugely impressive Aragonese Castle built into the towering rock face.
Former residents of the island include Sir William Walton who, along with his second wife, created the delightful gardens at La Mortella. Sir William composed at La Mortella for three and a half decades and, following his death, the official Walton archive was established here too. Luckily it is open to the public and makes for an enchanting day out for music lovers and horticulturalists alike.
Elsewhere try Casamicciola a well established spa town that has been healing visitors since Roman times.
Discover The Tuscan Charms of Montecatini
Montecatini , one of Italy's most fashionable and delightful Spa cities, is renowned for its sophistication, elegance and beauty where life can be enjoyed from one of the many stylish cafes and restaurants which line its broad avenues. Located in a valley of olive trees and surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Tuscan landscape, it enjoys a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere yet with all the facilities of a resort town. The modern town is overlooked by Montecatini Alto and the two towns are connected by a funicular.
It is, of course, above all best known for its spa facilities which include a wide variety of health treatments, fitness centres, wellness activities, massage, sauna, mud bath, swimming, beauty treatments, lymph drainage, water therapy and medical treatments. All the spa centres have modern facilities and highly trained staff, and either offer a variety of services or specialise in a smaller sample. With Florence just 40 kilometres away and Lucca and Pisa easily reachable, Montecatini is an ideal base from which to explore the beauty of Tuscany.
