Cruises on The River Nile
Before Christ was even born the ancient Greeks and
then the Romans beat a path to Egypt and the tombs
and treasures that line the life-giving River Nile.
Centuries later, the French under Napoleon and the
British too, had begun to transport ancient Egyptian
treasures to their museums for ‘safe keeping’.
By the second half of the 19th century the first
steam ship cruises along the Nile had started to
operate and a famous travel institution had been
born. These days, the Nile cruises continue (though
we no longer use coal fired steam ships!) while,
thankfully, some of the most important remains of
early Egyptian civilisation reside, where they ought
to, in the Cairo museum.
Nile Cruise Ships
Nile cruises & Nile river cruise holidays are
definitely the only way to travel among the treasures
of ancient Egypt, there’s on board entertainment,
a swimming pool, a bar, a sun deck and, best of all,
there’s the ever-changing scenery. All cabins
are air-conditioned and all have a view of the River
Nile whilst you’re sailing. Up on deck your
Nile cruise ship helps create a gentle breeze that
is often a welcome relief from the Egyptian sun.
Of course, if you get too hot, you can always order
a cool drink from the ship’s bar or enjoy a
dip in the ship’s pool.
Egyptian evenings on board ship are a special time.
Dinner is always an occasion and a night-time stroll
on deck under the stars is a fabulous experience
as, indeed, are timeless images of life along the
River Nile itself. Full or all inclusive board arrangements
mean you don’t have to worry about keeping
body and soul together either, leaving you free to
enjoy your Nile cruise and reflect on the amazing
things you’ll see.
Sightseeing on a Nile Cruise
One of the great things about Nile cruises & Nile
river cruise holidays in Egypt with Archers Direct
is that many of the excursions are included in the
price of your cruise holiday. This is good news as
you can always be sure about seeing and understanding
some of the really key sites in Egypt. When it’s
time to go ashore, you’ll be joined by English-speaking
guides who will help you make the most of ancient
sites like the Valley of the Kings and Queens, the
Temple of Hourus and the Temples of Luxor and Karnak.
There are optional excursions too, especially for
those of you who want to do something really different
and memorable or for those want see Egyptology in
a little more detail. How about an optional tour
to the tomb of Tutankhamun or a plane excursion to
the 3,200 year old temple of Abu Simbel, where 25,000
workers toiled for 25 years carving this extraordinary
monument from solid rock?
Nile Cruise & Stay Holidays
There again, if all this Egyptian culture wears
you out, how about adding another 7 nights in the
Red Sea resort of El Gouna? Or, if you’re still
anxious for more, why not combine Cairo and Luxor
and visit the museums, the bazaars and, of course,
the pyramids?
