DAY 1: UK - Prague.
Fly to Prague where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for two nights. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore this magnificent city. (D)
DAY 2: Prague.
The Czech capital is a treasure trove of Gothic and Baroque architecture that inspired the works of Dvorak and Smetana, two of the city's best-known composers. This morning's sightseeing tour takes you on a delightful journey around this stunning capital's major landmarks, including the elegant National Theatre, ornate Baroque Church of St Nicholas, stately Charles Bridge and fabled old Town Hall with its Astronomical Clock. This afternoon, visit the 1,000 year old Hradcany Castle, a former residence of Bohemian Kings. Tonight, don't miss the Czech dinner with folklore music. (B, D)
DAY 3: Prague - Tabor - Cesky Krumlov - Cesky Budejovice.
This morning, travel through beautiful south Bohemian countryside to the historical city of Tabor, founded as a bastion by Jan Zizka, the leader of the Hussites, in 1420. Visit the picturesque town square and admire the graceful blend of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture before heading to Cesky Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage site set on the banks of the Vltava River. Accompanied by a local guide, wander the historic, winding streets of this fairytale medieval town and visit its splendid castle, the second largest in the Czech Republic and known as the 'Pearl of the Renaissance'. After this, continue on to Ceske Budejovice for one night in the political and commercial capital of the region. (B, D) (B, D)
DAY 4: Ceske Budejovice - Danube Cruise - Vienna.
This morning, continue through the south Bohemian countryside into Moravia and and known as the 'Pearl of the Renaissance' and enjoy an included afternoon cruise on the mighty Danube River, taking in the beautiful wine-growing region of the Wachau Valley as you sail from Melk to Krems. Later, drive to Vienna, Austria's elegant capital, for two nights. (B, D)
DAY 5: Vienna.
A full day to discover the sights and delights of imperial Vienna, seat of the powerful Habsburg Empire for over 600 years and also known as the 'City of Music'. Today's included sightseeing trip takes you along the glorious Ringstrasse to see many of Vienna's charming historic landmarks and the contemporary Hundertwasserhaus. This afternoon, visit Schönbrunn Palace, the beautiful and impressive summer residence of the Habsburgs, to admire its frescoes, ornate chambers and exquisite gardens, before this evening's traditional Austrian dinner in a local restaurant. DAY 6: Vienna - Vienna Woods and Mayerling - Budapest.
Drive through the beautiful scenery of the Vienna Woods today and enjoy a short stop in Mayerling to visit the former Habsburg hunting lodge where the lovers' suicide of Crown Prince Rudolf and Baroness Maria Vetsera took place in 1889. Later, cross the border into Hungary and continue to Budapest, the country's beautiful capital, for two nights. (B, D)
DAY 7: Budapest.
Known as the 'Queen of the Danube', Hungary's lovely capital comprises the cities of Buda and Pest dissected by the broad ribbon of the Danube. The impressive Heroes' Square, with its grand monuments, typifies the modern capital, whilst along the Danube banks, rows of charming old inns and wine cellars reveal the older, enchanting side of this multi-faceted city. Today's included sightseeing tour takes in many of the principal landmarks, such as Pest's Parliament building and Buda's grandiose Royal Castle, Fisherman's Bastion ramparts and 700-year old Matthias Church. This afternoon is free for you to explore the city at leisure. Tonight, enjoy dinner and a folklore show. (B, D)
DAY 8: Budapest - UK.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK. (B)
