DAY 1: UK - Naples - Rome.
Fly to Naples where you will be met by our representative and transferred to Rome for a three night stay.

DAY 2-3: Rome: Included sightseeing.
The 'Eternal City' never ceases to amaze and delight, with its rich legacy of history and culture and its stylish, vibrant atmosphere. Our included sightseeing tour starts in St Peter's Square, followed by a visit to the Roman Forum and the mighty Colosseum. There is also a range of great-value optional excursions to choose from, including a dinner outing. (B)

DAY 4: Rome - Vesuvius - Pompeii (included sightseeing) - Capri or Anacapri.
Our journey south takes us first to one of the world's most awe-inspiring sights - mighty Mount Vesuvius, the only live volcano on the European mainland. Then it's on to Pompeii, the incredible ancient city which was buried for centuries by lava ashes from the volcano. You'll enjoy an included tour with local guide of the site where you can see the well-preserved remains of villas, temples and the forum. A short journey then takes us to the port, from where we cross by ferry to stay for two nights on the lovely island of Capri.

Note: On occasions the hydrofoil may be used for the crossing to Capri, for safety reasons passengers are kindly requested to take only 1 piece of luggage per couple to the island. Solo travellers will obviously be allowed to take one piece of luggage each. The remaining luggage will stay at the hotel in Sorrento and be collected before departure, or be transferred to your hotel if you have booked a second week. (B, D)

DAY 5: Capri.
Enjoy a full day discovering the many delights of this beautiful island, with its dramatic rocky coastline dotted with grottoes, including the famous 'Blue Grotto'. The town of Capri, with its pretty piazzetta, maze of streets, fashionable boutiques and smart restaurants is a favourite stamping ground of the 'jet set'. Why not explore some of the island's lovely walks? Or perhaps join our optional excursion to see more of the sights? (B, D)

DAY 6: Capri - Amalfi - Sorrento.
After a morning ferry journey back to the mainland, we take to the road for an included excursion along the breathtakingly beautiful Amalfi Coast. Between Castellamare and Minori lie 40 miles of idyllic scenery, including secluded coves, whitewashed houses clinging to terraced hillsides and sun-soaked, blue bays. (B, D)

DAY 7: Sorrento.
The day is yours to explore the charming town of Sorrento, which boasts wonderful views, a marvellous climate, designer shops, excellent restaurants and a quaint medieval quarter. (B)

DAY 8: Sorrento. At Leisure.
A day at leisure in Sorrento to spend as you please. Overnight in Sorrento before joining the Highlights of Sicily tour on day 9 (Sat). (B, D)

DAY 9: Sorrento - Villa San Giovanni - Taormina area.
We travel through the wild and mountainous scenery of Italy's far south to board the ferry for the 45-minute crossing to Sicily. It is then a short coach journey to your hotel in the Taormina area. (B, D)

DAY 10: Taormina.
The day is yours to get your bearings and explore the beautiful resort of Taormina. For a breathtaking view of the coast and Mount Etna, head down to the Piazza Nove Aprile, the heart of the town set spectacularly on a precipice overlooking the sea. You may wish to join us for an optional Sicilian evening. (B, D)

DAY 11: Taormina - Mount Etna - Syracuse.
Called 'Mountain of Mountains' by Sicily's Arab settlers, Europe's largest active volcano is an impressive sight, its towering peak rising up from a landscape of pine woods and citrus groves. Join us for an included visit, during which you can enjoy stunning views from the heights of the volcano and, if you choose, take an optional jeep ride (or cable car when operating) to approximately 7500 feet.
Note: This may be subject to minimum participation.
We then head south to Syracuse, founded in 734BC by Corinthians from Greece, where you can take our optional tour of this fascinating heritage site (the extensive 'Zona Archeologica' has a wealth of impressive Greek remains) or spend some time exploring the town at your own pace. You will stay overnight in the Syracuse area. (B, D)

DAY 12: Syracuse - Piazza Armerina - Agrigento (included sightseeing.)
Today we travel west to Piazza Armerina, a pleasant hillside town rich in typical Sicilian atmosphere. We will visit nearby Villa Casale, the remains of a palatial Roman villa, famous for its superb mosaics. Then it's on past the sulphur mines of Caltanissetta to Agrigento's Valley of the Temples, one of Italy's most impressive archaeological sites. Your included sightseeing tour with a local guide will include visits to the exceptionally well preserved Temple of Concord and the awe-inspiring Temple of Juno Lacinia. You will stay overnight in Agrigento. (B, D)

DAY 13: Agrigento - Selinunte - Palermo.
Our next stop is Selinunte, another of Sicily's fascinating heritage sites (entrance fee included). Much of the city still lies buried, but there are extensive remains to be explored, including the Acropolis, which has ruins of temples and fortifications, as well as the foundations of rows of shops. We then head north east to Sicily's capital, Palermo, where you will stay overnight. (B)

DAY 14: Palermo.
A full day to explore Sicily's busy and colourful capital, set in a valley called 'Conca d'Oro' (the 'Golden Shell'). In the afternoon, why not join our optional guided sightseeing tour for a more in-depth look at the city, which has a wealth of lovely squares and market places, churches and palaces? Also included is a visit to nearby Monreale. In the late afternoon, we head for the harbour to take the overnight ferry to Naples.
Note: Accommodation on the ferry will be in shared two-berth couchette cabins with private facilities. (B)

DAY 15: Naples - UK.
The ferry arrives in Naples in the early morning, after which you will transfer to Naples airport for your flight to the UK.
