Holiday Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Venice area.
Fly to Venice where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay. (D)

DAY 2: Venice (included sightseeing) - Perugia.
There is nowhere quite like the beautiful city of Venice, rising from a vast lagoon and packed with famous sights like the Doge's Palace and the Bridge of Sighs. The day begins with our included sightseeing tour of this amazing city, with a boat ride along the Giudecca Canal, the visit of St. Mark's Basilica and a glass-blowing demonstration. In the afternoon drive along the Adriatic coast to the lovely and historic town of Perugia, a former Etruscan stronghold, for two nights. (B, D)

DAY 3: Perugia - Included excursion to Assisi and Todi.
In the morning set off for an included excursion to the lovely hilltop town of Assisi, home of St. Francis, before continuing into the heart of Umbria to the medieval town of Todi, perched on a tall two-breasted hill overlooking the east bank of the Tiber River and commanding distant views in every direction. Its piazza is one of the most picturesque in Italy and is often used as a movie set. Return to Perugia in the late afternoon. (B)

DAY 4: Perugia - Lake Trasimeno - Siena.
Today say goodbye to Perugia and continue to the shores of picturesque Lake Trasimeno, site of a famous battle between Hannibal's forces and the Romans. In the afternoon carry on to Siena, one of Italy's architectural and historic jewels. This is an exquisite city with well preserved medieval streets converging on the glorious, semi-circular Piazza del Campo, famous for its Palio horse race.

DAY 5: Siena - San Gimignano - Chianti Valley - Montecatini.
More vistas today of gentle hills dotted with olive groves and cypress trees as we drive to the hilltop town of San Gimignano with its trademark towers and then through the rolling vineyards of the Chianti valley, where we will have a chance to taste some of the world famous wine. Later it's on to Montecatini in the Tuscan hills for the next three nights.

DAY 6: Montecatini. Included excursion to Pisa, Lucca and Pistoia
A full day to discover more Tuscan treasures that simply cannot be missed: Pisa, with its Square of Miracles, site of the Leaning Tower; Lucca, renowned for its silkware, magnificent churches and medieval fortifications; Pistoia, an ancient city famed for its ironwork and its architectural highlights including the Romanesque cathedral, the Palazzo del Comune and a hospital dating back to 1277.

DAY 7: Florence. Included sightseeing.
The Tuscan capital is like a big open air museum, packed with art and architecture from the glory days of the Renaissance. With a full day to explore the wonderful city of the Medicis, we'll be spoilt for choice. Your included guided walking tour of the historical centre will take us to most of the sightseeing highlights including Piazza Santa Croce, Piazza Signoria, the Palazzo Vecchio, the magnificent Duomo with the cupola designed by Brunelleschi, the Battistero and the Campanile di Giotto. There will also be a chance of bargain hunting at one of Florence's famous leather shops. (B, D)

DAY 8: Tuscan Hills - Venice.
Take your last fond glimpses of Tuscany before heading to Venice to embark your cruise ship, MSC Musica. (B, D)

DAY 9: Bari.
Facing the Adriatic, on the edges of the plateau of the Terra di Bari, Bari is divided into two main parts marked out by the Corso Vittorio Emanuele: the old city, a network of medieval streets and monuments, where visitors will lose themselves in the beauty of the impressive Romanesque-Pugliese structures, and the quarters which were developed after 1820 and characterised by perfectly straight streets and squares. DAY 10: Katakolon.
Katakolon on Greece's Peloponnese is the gateway to ancient Olympia, which was not only the birthplace of the Olympic Games, it was also a sanctuary dedicated to the god Zeus. Highlights of an optional excursion to Olympia include the ruins of the spectacular Temple of Zeus and the vast stadium, built to hold 45,000 spectators. (B, L, D)

DAY 11: Santorini, Greece - Mykonos, Greece.
Santorini is a beautiful crescent shaped island with sheer cliffs that rise out of the sea. Visit Thira town thought by many to be the lost city of Atlantis. Take a walk through the streets, with their characteristic white houses, with blue domed roofs and wonderful views over the sea. In the evening the ship docks at the fascinating Greek island of Mykonos famed for its cosmopolitan nightlife and Greek hospitality. (B, L, D)

DAY 12: Piraeus (for Athens), Greece.
After breakfast why not join an optional sightseeing tour of the Acropolis and Athens? The tour includes a visit to the Parthenon and the Acropolis museum, followed by a tour of the city by coach. (B, L, D)

DAY 13: Corfu.
This picturesque island is a popular holiday destination, and is known for its splendid beaches. The Old Town of Corfu has many colourful shops and lovely arcades and the surrounding countryside is filled with rich orange and olive groves. (B, L, D)

DAY 14: Dubrovnik.
Noted for its imposing buildings, squares and fortified walls, Dubrovnik is Croatia's best preserved medieval city. It lies on the rugged southerly coast beside olive and pine bordered shingle beaches. (B, L, D)

DAY 15: Venice - UK.
Early morning arrival in Venice is a wonderful lasting memory. Disembark after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK. (B)

    Tipping
    It is customary to tip staff on board that give a personal service. In order to help, a sum of approximately 9 euros per person will be added as a fixed amount to your cashless account on a daily basis. This gratuity will be shared amongst the staff.
