Holiday Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - San Jose.
Fly to San Jose where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for a two night stay.

DAY 2: San Jose - Poas Volcano National Park - La Paz Waterfall Gardens - San Jose.
This morning we drive amongst lush coffee plantations and burgeoning flower farms to the Poas Volcano National Park, a haven of exotic birds and rich tropical verdure. The Poas Volcano is one of the world's largest geysers (1.5 km wide) and you can witness its unique misty crater before taking a stroll through the emerald forest to a stunning tropical lagoon. Later we continue to the La Paz Waterfall Garden where after lunch, a local guide will lead you along nature trails to see the Butterfly House, Hummingbird Garden, Frog Exhibit, an authentic Casita and spectacular waterfalls. DAY 3: San Jose - Tortuguero National Park. Included sightseeing.
Today we travel to Tortuguero National Park where we are going to board a canal boat for an enjoyable leisurely meander along the beautiful waterways. Teeming with wildlife, rainforest and waterways, Tortuguero, meaning 'turtle catcher', is located on the Caribbean Coast. After lunch, enjoy an orientation tour of Tortuguero Village, which is surrounded by exotic gardens and nature trails, perfect for relaxing and observing the wildlife. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: Tortuguero National Park. Included sightseeing.
Explore the breathtaking canals and waterways of Tortuguero on your included canal boat ride and venture along the private nature trails of Grupo Mawamba. With fresh and salt water contributing to the wetlands, the biodiversity found here is amongst the most amazing and unique in the world. The stunning beaches, canals and lagoons are home to incredible wildlife including river and nesting sea turtles, Capuchin and Howler monkeys and a variety of colourful birds and fish. The evening is free for you enjoy your surroundings at leisure. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: Tortuguero - San Carlos.
We Leave Tortuguero National Park via the canals this morning and drive along the beautiful Caribbean Coast and Northern lowlands towards the town of San Carlos, situated in the Arenal Volcano area. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. (B, L)

DAY 6: San Carlos - Tabacon Hot Springs - Arenal Volcano National Park - San Carlos.
This morning we explore the breathtaking Arenal Volcano National Park. The picture perfect cone is Costa Rica's most active volcano and, weather permitting, you may get to experience a spectacular eruption. Afterwards we continue to the Tabacon Hot Springs Resort, where soothing, thermo-mineral rivers are set amongst a paradise of tropical gardens and natural waterfalls. Relax in the warm springs before returning to your hotel for lunch and an afternoon at leisure. (B, L)

DAY 7: San Carlos - Monteverde. Included sightseeing.
The day begins with a drive to the picturesque Lake Arenal - Costa Rica's largest lake. A small pontoon boat will take you on a relaxing journey across the lake towards the small town of Rio Chiquito. Later we continue to Selvatura Park where you will see some of Costa Rica's finest treetop canopy walkways. Spanning almost three kilometres, the eight hanging suspension bridges reach 170 metres in length and hang 60 metres above the forest floor. At five feet in width, the Selvatura Bridges are the widest and strongest in Costa Rica. Experience the forest flora and fauna from a magnificent new perspective as you explore amongst the treetops. Overnight in Monteverde. (B)

DAY 8: Monteverde. Included guided tour of El Trapiche.
This morning, we explore the Monteverde Cloud Forest, one of the most famous conservation areas in Central America. Located on the Continental Divide, the Cloud Forest is one of the most ecologically unique areas in the world as it is home to rare and unusual wildlife such as jaguars, pumas and over 450 species of birds. In the afternoon we visit El Trapiche (traditional sugar mill and farm). Your guided tour includes interactive, working demonstrations of sugarcane and coffee production and the traditional cultivation of bananas, local legumes, avocado and macadamia nuts. (B)

DAY 9: Monteverde - Manuel Antonio National Park.
Today we leave Monteverde and journey along the Central Pacific coast towards one of the smallest yet most popular national parks in Costa Rica - Manuel Antonio National Park. Outside the park is a vibrant town with many bars and restaurants, whilst the secluded interior of Manuel Antonio provides a peaceful haven teeming with pristine beaches, cool palm-fringed canopies and wildlife. (B)

DAY 10: Manuel Antonio National Park.
This morning, we explore Manuel Antonio National Park to absorb its luscious lowlands and follow some of the nature trails that will lead through the forest. Experience the intense beauty of the exotic vegetation, the gentle sea breeze and perhaps catch a glimpse of some native creatures that share their natural habitat with the park. Search for Capuchin and Squirrel monkeys, sloths, coatis, agoutis, raccoons, colourful crabs and a myriad of exotic birds. Take a dip in the warm waters of the Pacific and in the afternoon enjoy Manuel Antonio at your leisure. (B)

DAY 11: Manuel Antonio National Park - San Jose.
This morning is free for you to discover the flora and fauna of one of the most beautiful and bio-diverse areas in the world. Stroll along the sparkling white-sand beaches, snorkel amongst the rare and beautiful marine life of the coral reefs or wander up to 'Cathedral Point', a forested slope that affords spectacular views over the park. Alternatively, do some last minute souvenir shopping in the town before travelling back to San Jose this afternoon for your friendly farewell dinner. (B, D)

DAY 12: San Jose - UK.
Transfer to Juan Santamaria International Airport for your overnight flight to the UK. (B)

DAY 13: Home landing in the UK.
