Holiday Itinerary

DAY 1: Dover, UK.
Join your cruise ship, Black Watch, at Dover. Your cruise is full board from dinner this evening until breakfast on day 8. Your ship departs at 10pm, latest embarkation is at 7.30pm. (D)

DAY 2: At sea.
A full day to relax on board as Black Watch cruises towards Bergen. Enjoy the chance to unwind on deck and admire the stunning seascapes or make the most of the many leisure activities and amenities on board your beautiful ship. (B, L, D)

DAY 3: Bergen, Norway.
Known as the gateway to the Norwegian fjords and as the city of the 'seven hills', our arrival in charming Bergen gives you more than a glimpse of the wonders to come. The birthplace of Norwegian composer Edward Grieg and the original capital of Norway, this beautiful city bursts with history, culture and picture-postcard charm and climbs up steep, surrounding mountain slopes to create an amphitheatre effect around its harbourside. Wander around its labyrinth of quaint cobbled streets flanked with crooked medieval houses, tiny porticoed shops, bustling cafes and museums, view the statue of Grieg standing proudly in the beautiful city park and see famous Bryggen Wharf, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its brightly painted Hanseatic merchant's houses and animated harbourside cafes, famous for their fish and seafood delicacies. Today also brings the option of enjoying an excursion to the top of Mount Floeyen. Reached by funicular railway, its peak towers 1,000 feet above the city and commands spellbinding views over its rooftops and the surrounding seascapes, dotted with lovely islands. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: Flam - Gudvangen.
(B, L, D)

DAY 5: Hellesylt - Geiranger.
Spectacularly situated on the winding snake-like Geirangerfjord, the tiny village of Geiranger is swathed in a spellbinding panorama of sparkling waters, dramatic snow-capped mountains bearing romantic names such as 'The Seven Sisters', 'The Bridal Veil' and 'The Suitor'. Picturesque Geiranger, nestled in the eastern end of the fjord, is one of Norway's most popular tourist sports for its incredible scenery. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: Haugesund.
Cruise amidst some of Norway's most majestic coastal scenery, passing fjords, glaciers, mountains and waterfalls, en route to Haugesund this morning. Set on the lovely Rogaland coast, Haugesund is built on an early Viking settlement and regarded as both the birthplace of Norway and the modern cultural centre of the region. Bordering beautiful Haugesund Sound, the area was home to Harald I Fairhair, the first king of Norway, and several local sights are mentioned in Snorre's famed Norse sagas. Take time to explore the charming pier, filled with picturesque wharf houses, the town hall, the 13th century St Olav stone church or the local museum. Perhaps venture to one of the local islands such as Risøy or Hasseløy, for restored examples of old wharf houses and ancient homesteads, or Karmøy, to visit the old copper works from which the copper for the Statue of Liberty was mined. (B, L, D)

DAY 7: At sea.
Relax on board your ship, enjoying views from the deck and the many facilities Black Watch has to offer. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: Dover, UK.
Arrive in Dover and disembark early this morning after breakfast on board. (B)
