The Romantic Rhine
10 DAYS FROM £779
Over the years my husband and I have been on a number of cruises but never on a river cruise so we were a bit dubious, as it turned out we certainly had no need to be. It was the best med/short holiday we have ever had.
The ship was just the right size and people soon got to know one another. The Captain mixed with everyone and created the right atmosphere. We had an excellent Courier who went out of her way to help. The cabins were comfortable and kept extremely clean and the food was very varied, in fact we never got the same dish twice and it was all excellent and well presented. All the places we called at were interesting and in easy reach from the ship.
We have several friends who were anxious to know what we thought of the cruise and we have recommended it without a moment's hesitation.
Enjoy beautiful landscapes, picturesque scenery and visits to some wonderful towns and cities as you meander along the romantic Rhine on a relaxing river cruise.

The rest of the afternoon and evening are yours to explore the sights of this beautiful city at leisure. From the hotel there is a shuttle bus every 20-30 minutes to the airport. From here, you can take a train that runs every 8 minutes into the city centre.
DAY 2: Amsterdam - Cologne.
Our journey takes us through the rural Dutch countryside and across the border into Germany, arriving in the afternoon in the city and port of Cologne, on the left bank of the mighty Rhine River. Embark your cruise ship, Prinses Christina. (B, D)
DAY 3: Cologne - Koblenz.
You'll set sail in the early morning, cruising southwards to the historic city of Koblenz, arriving in the early afternoon. Located on the convergence of three rivers and three mountain ranges, the city dates back to Roman times and is a centre of the German wine trade. A programme of optional excursions is available during your stay at most ports of call. (B, L, D)
DAY 4: Koblenz - Cochem. Included wine tasting.
Cruising along the Moselle River westwards, you'll arrive in the picturesque town of Cochem, spectacularly set at the heart of the wine-growing area known as the Moselle Valley and overlooked by an 11th-century castle. There's plenty of time to take in the sights. Today there is an included wine tasting.
Note: On 13 June departure, the locks on the Moselle will be closed and the visit to Cochem will be conducted by coach. (B, L, D)
DAY 5: Cochem - Boppard.
Enjoy breakfast on board your cruise ship as you sail back to the Rhine for an early afternoon arrival in Boppard, enjoying some of the region's legendary sights along the way. The afternoon is yours to explore this ancient and charming town, set in the beautiful Lorelei Valley, with the Hunsruck Mountains as a spectacular backdrop. (B, L, D)
DAY 6: Boppard - Rüdesheim.
This morning you'll cruise to Rüdesheim, past some of the Rhine Valley's most famous landmarks, including the 130 metre high Lorelei rock, and the Mäuseturm, an ancient customs post, now a beacon tower for shipping. The afternoon is yours to explore Rüdesheim, overlooked by the great ivy-crowned towers of ruined Ehrenfels Castle. (B, L, D)
DAY 7: Rüdesheim - Andernach.
Cruise northwards through glorious scenery to Andernach, a walled town known for its impressive 13th-century 'Liebfrauen' Church and the famous 'Rhine Boulevard'. In the afternoon there's an opportunity to join our optional excursion to the Ahrtal wine-making region. (B, L, D)
DAY 8: Andernach - Cologne.
Sailing further north, you'll pass Remagen, famous as the site of a World War II battle for the town's bridge, en route to Königswinter, an elegant resort at the foot of the Sieben Gebirge mountains. After lunch, you'll cruise past the ancient city of Bonn, birthplace of Beethoven, to Cologne for an overnight stay. You'll have time to explore this lively, historic city, famed for its magnificent Gothic cathedral. (B, L, D)
