DAY 1: Depart UK.
DAY 2: Arrive Shanghai.
On arrival in Shanghai you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for two nights. The rest of the day is at leisure, which gives you time to experience the sophisticated and exciting city, once known as the 'Paris of the Orient'. (D)
DAY 3: Shanghai.
Today immerse yourself in cosmopolitan Shanghai and enjoy tours of the surreal Yu Yuan Garden, with its Ming Dynasty miniature landscapes, the famous Jade Buddha Temple and Shanghai Museum, before a stroll along The Bund - Shanghai's famous waterside boulevard. After dinner, enjoy an included acrobatics show. (B, L, D)
DAY 4: Shanghai - Wuhan.
Enjoy a morning at leisure before transferring to the airport for your afternoon flight to Wuhan - the capital of Hubei Province and scene of China's 1911 revolution against the Qing dynasty, for an overnight stay. (B, L, D)
DAY 5: Wuhan - Yichang - Yangtze River.
This morning visit the Guiyuan Temple and the Jingzhou City Wall before continuing to Yichang. Join your cruise boat, President No.6 (President No.2 for 2011), in the early evening for your four night Yangtze River cruise. (B, L, D)
DAY 6: Yangtze River.
Set sail early this morning and cruise through the dramatic Three Gorges Dam Five Stage Ship Lock and the hauntingly serene Xiling Gorge. A shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam site, one of modern man's most remarkable undertakings, completes an enthralling day. (B, L, D)
DAY 7: Yangtze River.
Another unforgettable day, with a shore visit to the Shennong Stream (or Lesser Three Gorges) and a cruise through Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge. (B, L, D)
DAY 8: Yangtze River.
Today includes a visit to either Shibaozhai - an ancient pagoda known as the shining pearl on the Yangtze, or Fengdu Ghost City. (B, L, D)
DAY 9: Yangtze River - Chongqing - Xian.
Disembark your cruise boat at Chongqing for a short city tour, which takes in the zoo and the Old Town area. Afternoon flight to Xian for two nights. (B, L, D)
DAY 10: Xian and Terracotta Warriors.
Discover the highlights of Xian, one of greatest cities civilisation has ever known. Today you will see the breathtaking Terracotta Warriors - 8,000 hand-carved life-size warriors buried alongside China's first emperor, and visit the Grand Mosque. In the evening, enjoy an included dinner and show at the Tang Palace Theatre Restaurant. (B, L, D)
DAY 11: Xian - Beijing.
Enjoy a morning tour of Xian's 7th century Wild Goose Pagoda and the stunning city walls, built on foundations partially made from rice, before flying to Beijing for two nights in this vibrant, historic city. (B, L, D)
DAY 12: Beijing and Great Wall of China.
An included full day tour of the legendary Great Wall of China at Juyunguan Pass. Stretching approximately 4,000 miles and dating back to the Ming period, this startling edifice will stay etched in your memory forever. Other highlights include the Summer Palace, with its ornate pavilions and halls, and the fabled Sacred Way. In the evening, enjoy a Peking Duck dinner. (B, L, D)
DAY 13: Beijing - Shanghai.
Another fascinating day lies ahead with Beijing city sightseeing. Visit vast Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, seat of China's former emperors. A visit to the 15th century Temple of Heaven also awaits. This evening, fly to Shanghai for two nights. (B, L, D)
DAY 14: Shanghai - Suzhou - Shanghai.
This morning take the train to Suzhou, one of China's most charming cities, known for its canals, arched bridges and silk-making. Visit the Garden of the Master of the Nets, a beautiful miniature garden set beside a small lake, a Suzhou silk reeling factory and the city's enchanting Panmen Gate. Later, enjoy a rickshaw ride to the canal for a short boat ride along its leisurely Grand Canal, before returning to Shanghai in the late afternoon. (B, L, D)
DAY 15: Shanghai - UK.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK. (B)
