Highlights of the Canyonlands
10 DAYS FROM £1064

This holiday has departures available between: 1st Nov 2010 to 7th Nov 2011
526Gillian HickermanUK Brenda and myself set off for what turned out to be one of the best tours I have ever done.

It was very full on and every evening we were shattered but wow what we saw was awesome - it knocked your socks off!

The tour guide Cynthia and the driver Nathan were outstanding in every way, they made us feel safe and looked after - nothing was too much trouble.

The Grand Canyon was fabulous; everyone should do the helicopter ride, you just don't want to miss the thrill as you fly over the canyon. It is one of our favourite moments!
We got up at 5.30am to go to watch the sunrise over the canyon - spectacular. You would think you cant better this but just wait when you go to Gouldings lodge and see the views from your room.

So up for another sunrise over Monument Valley. Don't miss the cookout it was such good fun. This tour has so much more - Bryce Canyon is possibly one of my favourites canyons. The walk from one view point to another is mega awesome and don't miss Antelope Canyons no matter how tired you are; the walk through the slots are a must.

I could go on forever telling you about this tour - all I can say is if your thinking about this tour, stop thinking and book it - you wont regret it!

This was Brenda's first tour and she loved every minute although she was tired but said there was plenty of time to sleep when were home! I myself have done loads of tours but this was the best.

Our fellow travellers were fabulous and we made some great new friends and will keep in touch with them.

On closing, I must say a very big thanks to Cynthia and Nathan - there the best.

Saving to do the Rocky Mountaineer next - fingers crossed!

Holiday Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Las Vegas.
Fly to Las Vegas where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for two nights.

DAY 2: Las Vegas.
A day at your leisure to explore this breathtaking, glittering desert city, dubbed 'Sin City' for its myriad of casinos, themed hotels and lavish shows. Revel in the neon-gilded Las Vegas strip, ride the roller coaster at New York, New York or view man-eating sharks up close at Mandalay Bay. Don't miss the Fremont Street experience, where a glass atrium enclosing five city blocks comes alive with dazzling sounds and lights. Las Vegas is perfectly placed for trips to the mighty Hoover Dam, one of the engineering wonders of the world; Boulder City, which was originally built by the government as housing for workers who were building the Hoover Dam; and beautiful Lake Mead, the largest man-made lake and reservoir in the United States.

DAY 3: Las Vegas - Grand Canyon.
Cross the desert and the old Mohave gold-strike country, passing through Williams located on historic Route 66, and the Kaibab National Forest to arrive in the Grand Canyon by mid-afternoon. Marvel at one of the Natural Wonders of the World as you experience the breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon. There's plenty of free time to wander along the canyon rim. A memorable evening is in store for you, as you overnight inside Grand Canyon National Park.

DAY 4: Grand Canyon - Monument Valley.
If you missed the sunset, sunrise is just as impressive! There is time for an optional 'flightseeing' tour of the Grand Canyon - definitely the thrill of a lifetime. Later take a scenic drive across the Kaibab Plateau and through the amazing Painted Desert. After a lunch stop continue into Monument Valley, where the weathering action of wind and water has carved the famous sandstone spires and towers that rise hundreds of feet above the valley floor. You will stay overnight at historic Goulding's Lodge with its panoramic views of the Valley. Take a dip in the pool or take time to explore the Goulding's Museum and Trading Post, part of the set built for John Wayne's film, 'She Wore a Yellow Ribbon'. Monument Valley has been featured in numerous movies, from John Ford's 'Stagecoach' to 'Forrest Gump'. Take a walk back in time with this wonderful collection of movie memorabilia and Indian artefacts.

DAY 5: Monument Valley - Lake Powell - Page.
This morning's included four-wheel drive tour is a memorable way to experience Monument Valley. We then head to Page and visit the Glen Canyon Dam, holding back the waters of the Colorado River in Lake Powell, the USA's second largest man-made lake. In the afternoon, how about joining the optional Antelope Canyon cruise, which takes you onto the lake and into the tight winding canyons?

DAY 6: Page - Bryce Canyon National Park.
An optional early morning flight provides another unique perspective on Lake Powell. It also includes Glen Canyon Dam, Wahweap Marina, Tower Butte and Rainbow Bridge, the largest natural arch on earth. We then travel into Utah along the Grand Staircase to Bryce Canyon, where erosion has created delicate towers and deep ravines in a myriad of fantastic colours.

DAY 7: Bryce Canyon National Park - Zion National Park.
Today travel to Zion National Park. Once a refuge for Mormon pioneers, it's a striking landscape of steep canyons and stone towers carved out by rushing streams over millions of years. There is plenty of time to explore the park: take the park shuttle, see the visitor centre, the museum, enjoy a leisurely hike, do some bird-watching, or join a Park Ranger to learn more about the animals, geology, plants and human history. You'll stay overnight close to Zion National Park borders.

DAY 8: Zion National Park - Las Vegas.
This morning begins with an orientation tour of St George, the most important Mormon community in southern Utah. Afterwards, head back to Las Vegas where the remainder of the day is yours to relax, shop or revisit the famous 'Strip'.

DAY 9: Las Vegas - UK.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK.

DAY 10: Home landing in the UK.

Maximum elevation on this tour is 8,300 ft.
