Crete & the Greek Islands
15 DAYS FROM £934

553 Paul Bugge UK Our holiday started on May 1'st two days in crete at The Grand Hotel which was fabulous.

On Thursday the 3rd of May we joined our cruise ship the ship was very good, the staff excellent, our complaint was being told when we arrived on the boat that all trips had to be paid for we have travel with Archers before and the only extra we where told about. I would like to point this out to other travels who might be under the same impression that myself and many other's where under. It put extra cost's to our holiday that we had not budgeted for. There is no mention of this in your brochure.

The cruise itself was fantastic, the sights out of this world.

ARCHERS DIRECT:
Thanks Paul. At each port of call the cruise lines are able to offer a variety of excursions and we believe it's better for our customers to choose the excursion of their choice rather than us deciding on their behalf. We do suggest local excursions in our brochure and website itineraries but we are always careful to highlight these as optional.

After breakfast transfer to the port of Aghios Nikolaus to embark your cruise ship. Your cruise includes full board from lunch today until breakfast on day 10. Your ship departs at lunchtime. In the afternoon, you arrive in Santorini, a crescent shaped island with sheer cliffs rising straight from the sea, on top of which are hundreds of white houses with breathtaking views over the flooded Caldera where your ship lies at anchor. Visit Thira town, thought by many to be the lost city of Atlantis. You can also join the optional excursion to the village of Oia with breathtaking views. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: Piraeus for Athens, Greece.
After breakfast why not join an optional half-day sightseeing tour of the Acropolis and Athens? Afterwards you will be given a tour of the city by coach before returning to the ship. (B, L, D)

DAY 5-6: Istanbul, Turkey.
Enjoy the best part of the day at sea arriving into Istanbul to catch the sunset over the Bosphorus. Half in Europe, half in Asia, Istanbul is divided by the Bosphorus whose shores are filled with wealthy private residences and exclusive restaurants. (B, L, D)

DAY 7: Mykonos, Greece.
Spend the afternoon wandering the white-washed lanes, teeming with fashionable jewellery, local art and pottery shops. The cafés and restaurants, which back right onto the waterfront and provide splendid views of the local harbour, are the perfect spot for a bit of people watching. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: Patmos, Greece - Kusadasi, Turkey.
Arrive in Patmos in the morning. Embark by tender for an optional excursion to the ancient monastery that dominates the island. In the afternoon, we arrive at Kusadasi, a colourful and lively port with plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants and a covered market. One of the highlights of your holiday will surely be an optional excursion to the 6,000 year old Greco-Roman ancient city of Ephesus. Your guide will take you down Kuretes Street to Celsus Library and the 20,000 seater amphitheatre, giving you an insight into what life was once like in the city. (B, L, D)

DAY 9: Rhodes, Greece.
For over 200 years this was the base of the Knights of St John during their crusades. Rhodes is a UNESCO protected walled town beautifully kept and preserved and only a short walk from the port. Stroll down the Street of the Knights, or visit the Palace of the Grand Masters. You can also join the optional excursion to the village of Lindos to visit the fabulous temple of Athena. (B, L, D)
