567E DukeDoncaster For the past two years, my husband Bob and I have been on Costa Cruise holidays, booked through Archers Direct. The first was to the Baltics, visiting the fascinating capital cities of those countries that border that sea. Having thoroughly enjoyed it, we decided to take a Costa Cruise to Norway and this was equally captivating as we sailed the fjords and viewed the wonderful scenery.

During the winter we told our many friends of our wonderful holidays with Archers and thought about where we would like to go next.

Now we are busy telling more friends about this year's holiday and looking though the Archers brochures, planning our next exciting trip. no1

Holiday Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Copenhagen.
Fly to Copenhagen where you will be met and transferred to your cruise ship. (D)

DAY 2: At sea.
Relax and enjoy the entertainment and facilities on board. (B, L, D)

DAY 3: Hellesylt - Geiranger.
Dock in Hellesylt and enjoy optional excursions to see magnificent waterfalls and the deepest lake in Europe, overlooked by the towering Mount Dallsnibba. In the afternoon, visit Geiranger, a little town nestled at the eastern end of Geirangerfjord, where views of the sparkling waters and dramatic landscape from the mountain are absolutely stunning. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: Flam.
Set on Sognefjord, the world's longest and deepest fjord, Flam Valley is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with towering peaks and cascading waterfalls. To fully appreciate the magnificence of the region, why not take an optional scenic train journey? The train makes regular stops to allow you to take in the spectacular views. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: Stavanger.
A cosmopolitan city set on the southeast coast of Norway, Stavanger was the European Capital of Culture in 2008 and boasts charming traditional architecture, small, brightly coloured wooden houses and a bustling nightlife. Explore this interesting city at leisure, perhaps visiting Stavanger Domkirke, the oldest cathedral in Norway, or join an optional boat tour to Lyse Fjord to view the magnificent scenery. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: Oslo.
Located at the head of a vast fjord, Norway's capital has many fine buildings, museums and monuments, conveniently centred around Karl Johans Gate. These include the spectacular Royal Palace, the Edvard Munch Museum, which houses some of the artist's best works, and the excellent National Gallery. Fans of military history shouldn't miss the Resistance Museum, which traces Norway's resistance to Nazi occupation in World War II and the Armed Forces Museum, which includes a vast collection - from Viking artefacts to the tools of modern warfare. DAY 7: Warnemunde (for Berlin).
This morning, arrive at the bustling fishing village of Warnemunde. Why not travel by rail through scenic countryside to Berlin, Germany's capital? Vibrant once more since the dismantling of the Berlin Wall in 1989, this charismatic city offers a world of interesting sights and delights. Explore at your own pace today or join an optional excursion. This evening, cruise to Copenhagen. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: Copenhagen - UK.
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK. (B)

    Add the Baltic Capitals cruise to the end of your Norwegian Fjords cruise. At the end of the first week's cruise, simply stay on board for a further seven nights, returning to the UK on day 15 (Sat). You will have the opportunity to visit the lovely Danish capital of Copenhagen on day 8 (Sat).

    Note: When combining the two cruise itineraries, menus and entertainment may be repeated in the second week. The same cabin cannot be guaranteed for 2 weeks and it may be necessary to change cabins on day 8.
