669 Doreen & Tony Watts Hampshire I would like to say how much we enjoyed this tour. As it went on there was a surprise round every corner. The driver Kim and courier Daniel were really great, they made the holiday great fun. We had monuments, waterfalls, castles, the cruise and thrown in in Norway snow, great fun.

The whole lot was very good, great mix of company, American, Indonesian, Australians and a few English thrown in.

Compact and friendly, Denmark's 'wonderful, wonderful' capital has many famous sights, including the Tivoli Gardens amusement park and the Little Mermaid statue. See some of the famous sights on your included orientation drive. An optional tour of Zealand's castles is also available. (B)

DAY 4: Fredrikshavn - Gothenburg - Oslo.
Begin the day with a leisurely two-hour ferry ride from Fredrikshavn, across the Strategic Kattegat, to the famous port of Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city. We then continue along the scenic route of the Skagerrak coastline, over the border into Norway, and on to the ancient capital city of Oslo for an overnight stay. (B)

DAY 5: Oslo (included sightseeing) - Telemark area.
Set at the head of a vast fjord, Oslo has many fine buildings, museums and monuments, conveniently centred around Karl Johan's Gate. In the morning our included sightseeing tour, with a local guide, will show you the delights of the 14th-century fortress, Akershus Castle. Other highlights are the City Hall, National Theatre, Parliament, Royal Palace, Broadcasting House and Gustav Vigeland's sculptures, representing different stages of life, in Frogner Park. In the afternoon we travel to the Telemark area for an overnight stay. (B, D)

DAY 6: Telemark area - Bergen.
Often called 'Norway in Miniature', this region of Norway is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with serene countryside set amidst sparkling fjords. We'll enjoy a lovely scenic drive on the way to Rjukan for a visit to Vemork, famed for the heavy water plant blown up by British and Norwegian 'Heroes of Telemark' during World War II. A visit to the Vemork Museum is included. We then travel through the Telemark region, with its valleys, rugged gorges and imposing mountains and stop at the 500-foot Latefoss Waterfall on the way to the ferry, which will take us across the Hardangerfjord from Utne to Kvanndal. Next stop is the charming city of Bergen, where you will stay for two nights. (B)

DAY 7: Bergen.
The home of the famous Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, Bergen is a delightful city, set in the midst of seven mountains. There are many things to see and do, including the open-air museum and enjoying a panoramic view of the city from the cable cars. For a real insight into the city's history and culture, join our optional sightseeing tour, which will take in the main sights, including St Mary's Church, one of the oldest in Norway. In the evening you might like to join us for an optional folklore excursion. (B)

DAY 8: Bergen - Sognefjord cruise - Fagernes.
Today we take a memorable cruise on the mighty Sognefjord, with plenty of opportunity to enjoy the 'away-from-it-all' atmosphere and breathtaking scenery. We then drive on to Fagernes for an overnight stay. (B, D)

DAY 9: Fagernes - Karlstad.
From Fagernes we travel through some stunning mountain and lakeland scenery to Lillehammer, which boasts Europe's biggest open-air museum, dedicated to Norwegian art and architecture. After a stop on the shores of beautiful Lake Mjosa, we continue through Värmland's unspoiled wilderness of forests and lakes to the town of Karlstad. Having been almost totally destroyed by fire in 1865, Karlstad was rebuilt along modern lines, with broad avenues and large parks. (B)

DAY 10: Karlstad - Stockholm.
Set off eastward towards Stockholm, via Alfred Nobel's Bofors, the ancient garrison town of Orebro and modern Eskilstuna, famous for its stainless steel.
