670Andrew HardyDerbyshire I am writing to express our thanks for our recent holiday to the Arctic Circle and the Northern Cape.

This was the first holiday we had taken since I had my right leg amputated in May 2007. Although I was confident in my ability to get on and off the coach and walk short distances there were still some unknowns. Thanks to your staff we were helped with these throughout the holiday; from the arrangements at the airport to the Tour Manager obtaining a plastic stool so I could use the shower. The Tour Manager and driver were so helpful in providing advice and assistance that we did not feel we missed out on anything.

Thank you once again.

Holiday Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Rovaniemi.
Fly to Rovaniemi where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for two nights.

DAY 2: Rovaniemi.
The day is yours to explore the capital of Finnish Lapland, famous for centuries for exporting furs and salmon to the world's rich and powerful. Destroyed in World War II, the town was re-designed by Alvar Alto in the shape of reindeer antlers. In the afternoon, why not join the optional excursion to find out more about Lapland? (B)

DAY 3: Rovaniemi - Lapland - Sodankylä - Tankavaara - Saariselkä.
Journey across the outer reaches of the Arctic Circle today to encounter the unique, unspoiled scenery of Lapland, land of reindeer and the midnight sun. Enjoy a stop at Santa Claus' Workshop, where you'll have the chance to meet the man himself and his little helpers. Later, head to Sodankylä, where you'll see the charming Vanha Kirkko, Lapland's oldest wooden church dating back to the 17th-century. Then it's on to Tankavaara for a visit to the Gold Museum and a chance to try panning for a few nuggets yourself. Tonight, stay in Saariselkä, situated on the edge of the Finland National Park. (B, D)

DAY 4: Saariselkä - Karasjok - Honningsvag.
Head to Karasjok for a visit to Sapmi Park - a theme park exploring Sami culture, history and tradition. Enjoy outdoor activities and tour the craft studios where silverware, woven fabrics and other goods are produced. Afterwards, head to Honningsvag for one night. This evening, enjoy an included excursion to the North Cape, Europe's northernmost point at 71 degrees north, for spectacular views of the Midnight Sun. (B, D)

DAY 5: Honningsvag - Coastal Cruise - Alta.
Enjoy a highlight of your trip - a coastal cruise from Honningsvag to Hammerfest, offering amazing views of spectacular scenery. Disembark at Hammerfest and drive to Alta, set at the mouth of the world's richest salmon river, for one night. (B, D)

DAY 6: Alta - Narvik.
Journey along the stunning shoreline of Norway, where the road meanders along Kvaenangenfjord and Lyngenfjord. Enjoy a photo stop at the thundering Malselv Fossen waterfall, before heading to Narvik, rebuilt after near total destruction during fierce World War II battles. (B)

DAY 7: Narvik - Mo I Rana.
In the morning, visit Narvik's fascinating War Museum before heading to Nordland and across the southern reaches of the Arctic Circle to the picturesque town of Mo I Rana for one night. (B)

DAY 8: Mo I Rana - Trondheim.
Begin today with a visit to the ancient octagonal church of Mosjöen. Later, continue to the spectacular Laksforsen Waterfall before heading via the forests and rivers of Namsdalen Valley to Trondheimsfjord, the World War II hideout of the German battleship Tirpitz. (B, D)

DAY 9: Trondheim - Røros.
Founded in 997AD, Norway's third largest city, known as the 'Gateway to the North', is now a major commercial centre and port. The morning is yours to explore the city at leisure or join an optional city sightseeing tour. In the afternoon, travel through fine alpine scenery to Røros, close to the Swedish border, for one night. (B, D)

DAY 10: Røros - Mora area.
Spectacular mountain scenery and beautiful Lake Femund pass by as you journey to Mora, in the heart of the Dalarna region, some of the most typical and unspoiled countryside in the whole of Sweden. (B, D)

DAY 11: Mora area - Uppsala - Stockholm.
Enjoy more awe-inspiring scenery today as you skirt Lake Siljan and pass typical Dalarnian shore-side villages. Later, head to the university city of Uppsala, an ancient trading post on the Fyris River, for a short stop, before continuing to Sweden's delightful capital, Stockholm, for one night. (B)

DAY 12: Stockholm - Baltic Sea crossing - Helsinki.
Spread across 14 islands at the mouth of Lake Mälaren, Stockholm is one of the world's most beautiful capital cities. Today's included sightseeing tour takes in the City Hall and other famous landmarks. This afternoon is free for you to explore at leisure. This evening, embark the Silja Line ferry and cruise to Helsinki. (B)

DAY 13: Helsinki.
Finland's capital is a lively city with many visitor attractions, including the Kauppatori market square, surrounded by elegant 19th-century buildings. After breakfast on board the ferry, disembark for your city sightseeing tour with a local guide, which includes the City Hall and Parliament House, the Presidential Palace, the monumental railway station and the great Lutheran Cathedral. This afternoon is yours to relax or do some more sightseeing. (B)
