Holiday Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Munich area.
Fly to Munich airport where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.

DAY 2: Munich area - Nuremberg - Prague.
First stop is the ancient Bavarian city of Nuremberg, devastated during World War II, but with many of its historic buildings now lovingly restored. Then it's on to the Czech Republic's delightful capital, Prague, for a two-night stay. (B, D)

DAY 3: Prague. Included sightseeing.
Our included city sightseeing tour shows you all the major sights of this beautiful city, renowned for its wonderful Baroque and Romanesque architecture, cobblestone streets, gleaming spires and its quaint cafés. Highlights include the elegant National Theatre, the stunning Baroque Church of St Nicholas, the beautiful Charles Bridge and the ancient Town Hall with its famous astronomical clock. (B, D)

DAY 4: Prague - Vienna.
A picturesque morning drive through Bohemia and into Austria brings us to the Austrian capital, Vienna, in time for lunch. In the afternoon there's a chance to take an optional city sightseeing tour, allowing you to discover the many delights of this historic 'city of music', home of great composers such as Johann Strauss, Mozart and Beethoven, and also famous for its grand architecture and elegant coffee houses. In the evening, why not join us for an exciting optional excursion? (B)

DAY 5: Vienna - Budapest.
Time for some more exploring, or for souvenir hunting in Vienna's Karntner Strasse. Alternatively, join us for an optional visit to the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburg family. We then set off for the Hungarian border and the country's historic capital, Budapest. (B)

DAY 6: Budapest. Included sightseeing.
A chance to spend a full day exploring the 'Pearl of the Danube', with its marvellous collection of historic buildings and landmarks. Budapest is actually two cities, Buda and Pest, set either side of the River Danube. Our included sightseeing tour with a local guide takes in the Parliament Building, Margaret Island, Fisherman's Bastion, the Royal Castle and Matthias Coronation Church. (B)

DAY 7: Budapest - Salzburg area.
We head back over the border into Austria enjoying a scenic drive along the banks of the River Danube. We make a short visit to Melk before continuing to the environs of the historic city of Salzburg, birthplace of Mozart, for an overnight stay. (B, D)

DAY 8: Salzburg - Munich area.
Morning visit to Salzburg and return to Munich in the afternoon, passing lake Chiemsee. Overnight in the Munich area. (B)

DAY 9: Munich - UK.
Transfer to Munich airport for your flight to the UK. (B)

    Known as the 'Hungarian Sea', Lake Balaton is a popular holiday destination with several resorts. Historic Tihany and the wine-producing Badascony Hills are well worth a visit.

    On day 7 (Sun) of your tour you will be transferred to the hotel of your choice in the Lake Balaton area. Enjoy a week's stay before rejoining your tour on the following Sunday and travelling to Salzburg for one night before departing on Monday to Munich for an additional night's stay. On Tuesday transfer to the airport for your flight home.
