714 Chas & Dorothy Fildes UK We recently had the pleasure of travelling with your company to America, National Parks & Canyons tour, which was extremely beautiful we would thoroughly recommend this trip to all our friends.

The thing that made this trip so special was Lynn Barber our tour Manager not only was she kind, helpful , and caring, her knowledge of America was second to none she really made this trip a fantastic holiday for all of us.

This is not to forget Dick our driver who drove the coach with great care and safety and made sure all our luggage was taken care of plus he also kept the coach immaculate.

Enclosed is a picture of Lynn Barber if there is a way that you could forward this picture to her, we would be very grateful as this scene of Yellow Stone has memories from her childhood.

714 Ms R Harman West Sussex I would like to express my thanks on a wonderful holiday.

On the 16th May to 2nd June we went on the National Parks & Canyon Country Tour. This was our third West American trip with you and every time gets better and better.

Our tour rep Donna Mayes and coach driver Bob excelled themselves to make sure everything ran smoothly and we enjoyed ourselves to the full. Listening to Donna about the history, tales, jokes, were fascinating we had so many laughs, she and Bob were amazing.

I hope I will be travelling with you again in the near future.

714 Lin and John UK What can I say, to say it was fantastic is an understatement. We did this holiday as a celebration of our 40th Wedding Anniversary and we could not have chose better. The coach was full of great people, our rep Lynn was lovely and Dick our driver was excellent. Everyone made it that little bit special.

The parks and canyons are breathtaking and we could not get over how clean everywhere was. We cant stop talking about it. We opt for the flight over monument valley and it was everything and more to what we expected.

We cant wait to book another Archers holiday.

714 Eddie & Jean Howells UK My wife and myself have recently returned from a holiday in America with Archers, going to the National Parks and Canyons. We had the most wonderful time and found it excellent value for money. May I suggest that in the future would you include on this holiday a visit to the site of "The Battle of the little Big Horn" as we would be very interested.

We would like to say a special thank you to our tour director Donna Myer and the coach driver Bob Halter who were excellent at all times and would be very grateful to you if you pass on our comments to them. Thank you very much

714 Mr & Mrs Bland Bedfordshire Our Canyon Country adventure holiday was fantastic. We travelled with a super bunch of people, a great driver and a superb tour director.

Your welcome home letter arrived on a day, it was pouring with rain, my husband remarked of the weather, not being quite like we experienced in the Glen Canyon, Arizona, our minds and conversation went back to just one, of the most wonderful and unforgettable days we spent on our Canyon adventure holiday.

We had been concerned the evening before that, our raft trip into Glen Canyon may be cancelled due to rain, but fortunately for us it hadn't. What an experience. We boarded the raft and off we went, a light rain had begun, we continued through the Canyon, our pilot guide, being most informative and interesting, the rain became much, much heavier, our pilot issued us all with hooded capes, the rain became even heavier, our pilot apologised for the bad weather and for how wet we were, also, for us all to please excuse his excitement.

He then explained that all his time working on the river in Glen Canyon (12 years) he had never witnessed any scenes like we were now seeing, as we travelled through the Canyon the rain was so heavy, water falls were appearing, it was fantastic. For my husband and myself, being soaked to the skin, just didn't matter. We were caught up in the pilot's excitement and could understand and appreciate how he felt.

We felt so humble and privileged to have witnessed such a spectacle, also privileged to have shared this wonderment with out pilot guide as, he told us, it was his last season working on the Canyon river raft, he would be working on another part of the Glen Canyon the next season.

What a very special memory from him, one he would never forget and one we will never forget either.

714 Pauline & Fred Halifax My partner and I went on the tour of the canyons in America. What can I say except it was absolutely great and lived up to our expectations. The scenery was spectacular and we visited many memorable places. The itinerary was so varied there was something for everyone.

We enjoyed a beautiful meal in Kevin Coster's restaurant in Deadwood (I expected to see Doris Day walking down the street at any moment).

Another highlights was Zion National Park and the fact that we had time to explore for ourselves was a bonus. We saw plenty of wildlife but the bears unfortunately deluded us, may be next time!!! The weather varied enormously from snow in Yellow Stone Park to the heat in the desert at Las Vegas.

The logistics of the holiday were well thought out and there was no hassle or unnecessary waiting about getting our luggage or the keys for our rooms (they were actually brought onto the coach). Great we would do it all again.

714 Mrs K Thomas Rugby My husband and I have just returned from the National Parks and Canyons Tour. We enjoyed every moment of this experience, and congratulations to the people who put this itinerary together.

Our tour director Jackie Hamburg was a real pleasure to be with, her knowledge superb. Our coach driver, Bob Halter was excellent. He kept his coach so clean, a real joy to travel in.

This was our fourth Archers tour and hopefully it will not be the last. All our friends will certainly know how we enjoyed ourselves. The party consisted of 49 people across a wife age span, but it was like a big happy family.

Many thanks again Archers we are saving up already for another experience.

714 J Mends Derbyshire I just had to write this letter about the holiday to America.

The Wild West National Parks and Canyons, the best holiday I have had in my life. It proved to be a holiday of a lifetime. The Hotels and Tours were excellent. I, as a lone traveller, will be booking another holiday. Special thanks to the driver, Robert Toralbo, and to the Tour Operator Lynne Hendrick from San Diego, what a wonderful lady, a very clever lady and very knowledgeable.

I planned only doing half the excursions, but did everything that was going. Every one was superb value for money and so different. A beautiful vast awesome country, every day more and more spectacular and beautiful and the Grand canyon breathtaking - cannot say in words must be seen to be believed.

The passengers on the Coach were from all over the UK, singles, a French couple and families. We were one big happy family and rotating seats is a great thing to do. Guess what? We also met Kevin Cosner at Tatanka.

Since my return home, 2 families have written to me and I have said (and their letters also say) it was a holiday of a lifetime, one we will never forget. Thanks to everyone concerned.

Holiday Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Denver.
Fly to Denver where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for a two night stay.

DAY 2: Denver.
'The Mile High City' of Denver is the capital of Colorado and the gateway to the Rocky Mountains. An attractive city with broad streets, a tree-lined pedestrian mall leading to the gold-domed State Capitol, and Larimer Square in the city's historic heart. It's also home to some fine museums and galleries, many of which depict the western influence of the area. We offer a range of great-value optional tours, including city sightseeing and a visit to Buffalo Bill's grave.

DAY 3: Denver - Cheyenne - Black Hills of South Dakota - Keystone.
We travel north, first to Cheyenne, the state capital of Wyoming, known in the old days as 'hell on wheels'. Then it's on through the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, immortalised in a famous song from the musical 'Calamity Jane', to the historic frontier town of Custer. Late this afternoon, we'll travel to see construction of the renowned Crazy Horse Memorial, a monumental statue carved out of a mountain. The monument pays respect to the great hero of the Native Americans, Chief Crazy Horse. Construction began in 1949 and continues today. Learn more about Chief Crazy Horse, the Native American tribes, and the ambitious artist and his family who are working to make this dream a reality.

DAY 4: Keystone - Mount Rushmore - Deadwood - Lead.
We drive deep into the Black Hills, through what was once Sioux Indian territory, to see the magnificent granite face of Mount Rushmore, a giant monument to four great American presidents - Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. Afterwards visit Tatanka, 'The story of the Bison', and experience the richness of the Lakota Indian life, as it was during the height of the Buffalo Culture around the 1840's. Next it's on to Deadwood, a lawless frontier town during the 1876 Gold Rush, where Jack McCall murdered Wild Bill Hickok during a poker game. Your overnight stay is in the old mining town of Lead, set at the head of Gold Gulch Run.

DAY 5: Lead - Sheridan - Cody.
We head this morning through the rich high country where open-range cattle kings made war on the homesteaders in the 1890's. Driving past Sheridan in the Bighorn Mountains, the scene of many fierce battles between the US Cavalry and the Sioux and Cheyenne Indians, we arrive in Buffalo Bill's frontier town of Cody for an overnight stay.

DAY 6: Cody - Yellowstone National Park.
We travel through the Shoshone National Forest to splendid Yellowstone National Park, the USA's largest nature reserve, which contains more than 3,000 geysers and hot springs. We'll drive along the Grand Loop Road to Artist Point with magnificent views of Yellowstone Canyon and the stupendous Lower Falls, twice the height of Niagara Falls. You'll also see geyser basins with bubbling mud paint pots and the regular 'blow' of Old Faithful, Yellowstone's great geyser. A special treat is in store for you tonight as we overnight inside Yellowstone National Park.

DAY 7: Yellowstone - Grand Teton National Park - Jackson.
We head south into the magnificent summer and winter playground of the Grand Tetons. With saw-toothed, 13,770 feet high ridges crested with snow most of the year, it's one of America's last preserves of wild solitude. Passing beautiful glacier-fed Jackson Lake, we arrive in the Wild West town of Jackson, Wyoming. With its wooden sidewalks and saloons with bat-wing doors, it's just like a living film set! In the evening, why not continue the Western theme by joining our optional barbecue cookout and Wild West show?

DAY 8: Jackson.
Time to relax in scenic Jackson with its many shops and western atmosphere. How about joining a scenic raft trip down the Snake River, with the possibility of seeing bald eagles, and other wildlife?

DAY 9: Jackson - Salt Lake City. Included sightseeing.
Today we leave Jackson and drive to Salt Lake City for an overnight stay. Magnificently set on the edge of a salt desert and surrounded by mountains and forests, this is the centre of the Mormon religion where Brigham Young declared to his followers, 'This is the place'. Our included sightseeing tour will show you the best of the vibrant capital of Utah, including Temple Square with its impressive six-spired temple, adjacent tabernacle and Beehive House.

DAY 10: Salt Lake City - Bryce Canyon National Park.
We journey through the sagebrush landscape of southern Utah to Bryce Canyon National Park, with its 20 miles of breathtaking sandstone cliffs and ever-changing colours. Marvel at some of the earth's most brilliant shades of rock, which have been sculpted by erosion into pillars called 'hoodoos'.

DAY 11: Bryce Canyon National Park - Zion National Park - Page.
First stop today is Zion National Park, its striking landscape of steep canyons and stone towers carved out by rushing streams over a period of millions of years. We then head east to Page, originally built to house workers during the construction of the massive Glen Canyon Dam, which holds back the waters of the 186-mile-long Lake Powell.

DAY 12: Page - Painted Desert - Grand Canyon.
How about starting your day with an optional scenic flight over the stunning Monument Valley? We then take a scenic drive through the Painted Desert and across the Kaibab National Forest, before arriving in the early afternoon at the Grand Canyon. Marvel at one of the Natural Wonders of the World as you experience the breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon, you will have plenty of time to do some viewing before dusk as your overnight accommodation is inside Grand Canyon National Park.

DAY 13: Grand Canyon - Las Vegas.
For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, take our optional flightseeing excursion: a helicopter flight over the heart of the canyon with incomparable views of flame-coloured walls plunging 4,800 feet into the Colorado River. Leaving the high country of Arizona, we pass through Williams on the famous Route 66, and then the old Mohave gold strike country, which still has traces of century-old ghost towns set in natural desert beauty, to Las Vegas - a neon desert oasis, packed with spectacular hotels and casinos.

DAY 14: Las Vegas.
The day is yours to explore the original 'Sin City'. Stroll down the 'Strip', with its outrageous 'themed' hotels or relax by the poolside at your hotel. In the evening, there's an opportunity to join our optional night out to a show starring top Vegas entertainers.

DAY 15: Las Vegas - UK.
Transfer to McCarran International Airport for your overnight flight to the UK.

DAY 16: Home landing in the UK.

Maximum elevation on this tour is 9,033 ft.
