Lido di Jesolo
8 DAYS FROM £295

719Mr & Mrs MasonLiverpool After a hectic year of change to our lifestyle my wife Pauline and I needed a relaxing break and as regular travellers with Archers we eventually settled on a week in Lido di Jesolo on the Venetian Riviera.

We are devoted fans of Italy having travelled to many parts of this beautiful country and wanted to combine a week of relaxation with a chance to visit the delightful city of Venice again.

We chose to stay at the Principe Palace Hotel as it was described as having an excellent location in the centre of the resort facing the Piazza Mazzini and we were not disappointed. The hotel was elegant and delightful, the ever helpful and friendly staff and excellent cuisine added much to our holiday.

The rooftop sundeck and swimming pool, which always had plenty of sunbeds available gave us ample opportunity to relax and forget about out troublesome year. The resort itself was a delight, teeming with shops, bars, cafes and restaurants and catering for all the family. Particularly enchanting was the strolling of families with young children in the evening when no traffic was allowed in the resort centre, just people all having a good time and enjoying their holiday.

We also took our trip to Venice, the afternoon and evening excursion organised by our Archers rep was all we had hoped for, we wanted to see Venice after dark and we were captivated by the experience, it's a magical place by day but in the evening with the orchestra playing classical music in Saint Marks Square and the lights twinkling on the Grand Canal you can imagine all the history of this wonderful city coming back to life and you are transported back in time.

So we both agreed, our holiday had achieved it's aim, we both returned to England relaxed and invigorated and looking forward to once again leafing through the Archers brochure to select our next escape.

719Mr T JonesNorth Yorkshire I am writing to say how much we enjoyed our holiday to Lido di Jesolo which we took out of your Special Offers brochure.

We didn't know which hotel we were going to but were delighted with your choice which was the Hotel Cambridge.

We had a marvellous time both in Lido and in Venice, cycling up and down the Lido prom on the hotel's free bikes and sailing across the lagoon to Venice up and down on the water buses.

We are now looking forward to our next planned holiday with Archers, this time on your "Discover Tuscany" leisure tour plus an add on week in Lido di Jesolo, again at the Hotel Cambridge. Keep up the good work, sorry holidays.

719G S OrmeWarwickshire My son and I have just returned from our weeks holiday at the Hotel D'Annunzio in Lido Josolo. Everything in the hotel was excellent and everyone there is made very welcome and as we have been going there for many years, we meet friends who are also old customers at this hotel.

We must also praise your excellent courier Alistair (the best we have ever had) and also the courier to the Airport at Venice (Jose) for her very able assistance.

As we always have an enjoyable time in Josolo, and the pleasure of meeting up again with old friends, who are also regulars, we have already made a booking with you for September and recommend anyone visiting Josolo of a warm welcome at the Hotel D'Annunzio.

Your Resort

LIDO DI JESOLO A lively and popular resort, offering 15 kilometres of long sandy beaches and a wealth of activities. Take a pedalo ride or try your hand at water-skiing. Tennis, minigolf, bowling, go-karting and horse-riding are also available. Evening entertainment is plentiful too, with a huge choice of restaurants and bars centering around a palm-tree lined piazza. To experience the best of Italy you can even choose to combine a week in Lido di Jesolo with one of our fascinating Italian tours or a week on Lake Garda.
Transfer time from Venice to Lido di Jesolo: 1 hour approximately.

Out & About

VERONA An optional excursion to the city whose ancient centre boasts many magnificent Roman ruins, with the 1st century opera arena and the Piazza delle Erbe being the most spectacular. Verona is, of course, also the romantic setting for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
VENICE Why not join us on a full day excursion to a city of unparalleled beauty and unforgettable sights. See St Mark's Square with the Doge's Palace and campanile bell tower, as well as the Santa Maria della Salute and the famous Rialto bridge. To complete your visit, take a vaporetto or gondola to drift among the mellow walls and under sculptured bridges.

Activities

The main activities are sunbathing and swimming for obvious reasons. You'll also find easy walks around the resort, or exploring by bike is quite popular as it is essentially flat.

Shopping

Via Bafile is the main shopping street and it is lined with all types of shops, from fashion to jewellery. There are also shopping centres in San Dona and Mestre if a mall is more your thing. Alternatively, there is a large market in Jesolo Paese, a short taxi drive away, every Friday.

Food & Drink

You'll find food and drink to suit all tastes; a local speciality is Polenta, boiled maize served in slices, Tiramisu, freshly made and Prosecco, a typical sparkling wine. If you are a big fan of fish and seafood, then it's worth making the effort to visit the nearby fishing village of Cortellazzo a little further up the coast. Otherwise, there are plenty of opportunities for eating alfresco in one of the pavement cafés, and a trip to Italy wouldn't be complete without at least one magnificent ice-cream; you'll be spoilt for choice.

Beaches

Lido has just one beach, but it runs for approximately 10 miles! It is wide, sandy and shelves gently into the sea, and has been awarded a European Blue Flag.

Weather

Temperatures tend to hover around the 80's from June to August, whilst May and September can see highs in the late 70's.
