Scenic Slovenia & Croatia
8 DAYS FROM £815

This holiday has departures available between: 28th Apr 2010 to 13th Oct 2010
738N B WarrenNorthants We have recently returned from our holiday touring Slovenia and Croatia.

The travel arrangements from UK to Lubjlana were excellent .On arrival we were met and taken to our overnight hotel where we had our welcome meeting outlining the next days arrangements.

Every day was well planned and carried out with the utmost efficiency and our comfort in mind. The hotels were of a good standard and the food good and varied. The luggage was always taken care of and we did not need to handle it much at all. The trips were carefully planned and sufficient time allowed for one to wander off alone if you wanted to.

All in all a most enjoyable and educational holiday.

As a bonus we opted for the Porec add-on. This proved to be a good move as it allowed one to relax at a wonderful resort after a weeks touring-I thoroughly recommend.

We personally looked forward to seeing the Mostar bridge in Bosnia. We were not disappointed as my photo shows.

738Mrs WindridgeCheshire We have just returned from the touring holiday in Scenic Slovenia and Croatia with an add-on week in Pamoroz.

We have been on two previous Archers holidays (Prague Krakow and Budapest) and Poland which we enjoyed enormously, but we feel that this tour was particularly special. It must have taken some courage to put together in a tour covering such large distances and to include Bosnia but we would not have missed any of it.

The long journeys were full of breath taking scenery - The Dalmatian Coast - a real eye opener - the two days spent in Bosnia. It was a privilege to see the Mostar Bridge and Sarajevo gave us a fascinating and salutary glimpse into history.

Our guide (Osmond) was excellent throughout the week and could not have done a better job in helping us to understand the complexities of the area.I am pleased to see you have included this tour again in your brochure and would be tempted to do it again except that we have booked the Rocky Mountaineer so I am busy persuading all my friends to go to Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia on your tour.

Congratulations once again to the tour operator - it was brilliant!!!!

738A DavidsonSurrey The Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia trip appealed because it's packed in so much in a short time but I was worried about how I would cope with a lot of coach travel and being a single traveller in the group.

However, although the pace of the trip was tiring I now have wonderful memories of seeing so many fascinating places and so much beautiful scenery, the other travellers were very friendly, good company and the hotels fine.

I feel that I have done something really worthwhile this year by gong on this trip and visiting such inspiring places.

Holiday Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Ljubljana.
Fly to Ljubljana where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for one night. (D)

DAY 2: Ljubljana - Postojna Caves - Zadar.
Begin today with one of the real highlights of your tour - a visit to the beautiful subterranean world of the Postojna Caves, the largest known cave system in Slovenia and one of Europe's most extensive underground networks. Enjoy a mini-train ride through the caves to admire the diverse and captivating stalactite and stalagmite formations. Later, head across the border into Croatia and along the Dalmatian Coast to Zadar, a picturesque, historic town and the former capital of Dalmatia, for some sightseeing and an overnight stay. The area has a chequered history of rulers, from centuries under Venetian domination and Austro/Hungarian rule prior to World War I, to Italy and, after World War II, Yugoslavia. Now it is part of Croatia: free, busy and full of life. (B, D)

DAY 3: Zadar - Split - Dubrovnik.
Journey to the beautiful coastal town of Split, Croatia's largest city, spectacularly set overlooking the gleaming waters of the Adriatic. Rich with a varied and vibrant history, Split is dominated by the splendid Palace of Diocletian, a dedicated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the city's highlights on an included sightseeing tour before continuing further along the Dalmatian Coast to the picturesque port of Dubrovnik for two nights. (B)

DAY 4: Dubrovnik.
Known as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', Dubrovnik is perched on a promontory that juts into the sparkling blue waters of the Adriatic Sea. As one of the Dalmatian Coast's most beautiful resorts, the city is famed for its striking buildings, squares and fortified walls as well as its plentiful shops, cafés and restaurants. For an insight into the history of this beautifully preserved medieval city, enjoy a walk around the city on the included sightseeing tour. (B)

DAY 5: Dubrovnik - Neretva Gorges - Mostar - Sarajevo.
Journey across the border into Bosnia-Herzegovina and relax on a scenic drive through the rugged countryside of the Neretva Valley, a luscious and fertile area rich in wildlife and dissected by a vast, sparkling river. Next, enjoy a stop in the former Turkish garrison town of Mostar, now the chief city of Herzegovina, to view the Stari Most Old Bridge, after which the city is named. Later, visit the historic city of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina and a city with a distinctly Turkish influence. The included sightseeing tour provides an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the city and its architectural highlights including mosques, markets and bazaars. (B, D)

DAY 6: Sarajevo - Plitvice National Park.
Cross the border back into Croatia for a visit to one of the country's best-known landmarks, the spectacularly scenic expanse of Plitvice Lakes National Park. Unspoilt and beautiful, the area blends rocky, natural wilderness and abundant rich flora, with 16 glimmering turquoise-blue lakes and lush wooded hills peppered with cascading waterfalls. Join the optional walking tour for great views of some of the beautiful lakes before staying overnight in the area. (B, D)

DAY 7: Plitvice - Zagreb - Ljubljana.
Your first stop today is Zagreb, the capital of Croatia and the country's largest city. Enjoy a visit to the hilltop district of Gornji Grad and its lovely medieval quarter, Gradec. Enjoy a sightseeing tour to admire St Mark's Square and the wealth of historic buildings, including the Gothic-style Church of St Marcus, before continuing to the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, for more sightseeing and an overnight stay. (B, D)

DAY 8: Ljubljana - UK.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK. (B)
