Cities of Eastern Canada
9 DAYS FROM £1025

This holiday has departures available between: 18th Apr 2011 to 10th Oct 2011
763Richard IgnatowiczUK Dear Archers,

I have just returned from a nine-day trip from Eastern Canada and just wanted to say how well organised the whole trip was from start to finish. Our tour operator 'John Gargrave' was always welcome and well versed in all the cities/locations we visited during our tour. He made sure everyone was aware of the day's events and that everyone was happy.

There was so much to see during the whole tour that the nine days just didn't seem enough. Nevertheless, we saw the amazing sights that Canada had to offer which obviously included Niagara Falls and the CN Tower. Niagara Falls has to be seen to be believed. The 'maid of the mist' was something I read about but in reality was truly stunning and spectacular. The sheer volume of water and sound as you go near the falls is literally phenomenal and an experience to remember forever.

The CN Tower was another incredibly highlight of the holiday. My friend and I had the opportunity of having dinner at the CN Tower which was first class and seeing the sun set while dining there was an added bonus. It was an awesome sight to see for miles around and at the same time seeing the city move
into night time as the night lights come on for miles around. At the time my friend and I didn't realise the CN Tower was an added extra to visit at night. The tour operator 'John' went out of his way to make a last minute booking with the rest of the group for both of us - thank you John.

There is so much you can talk about during the whole trip but one other person needs a definite mention. The coach driver 'Sven' (sorry I never did catch his surname!) was such a pleasant and cheerful person during the whole tour.

Even the amount of time he was driving he was never annoyed at anything or anyone - even when my friend and I were late coming to the coach one morning he just smiled. He and John made the holiday really great and memorable.

THANK YOU ARCHERS.

763J & S BeavenGodalming What can we say about our Tour? WOW! Everything was well organised.

Tour Director and Driver, Cheryl and David were excellent, informative and good fun to be with. Hotels were First Class. This was our first long haul overseas tour a "once in a lifetime trip". But, after the excellent service and experiences of Canada and the friendliness of everyone we met, we will be planning other trips.

Holiday Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Toronto.
Fly to Toronto where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for two nights.

DAY 2: Toronto - Niagara Falls.
See Toronto's major landmarks, including the banking district, City Hall, the CN Tower, Toronto University and Roger's Stadium. Next, enjoy a visit to thundering Niagara Falls. View the falls from scenic points along the edge of the gorge, then go onboard the Maid of the Mist for a close up view from the river below the falls.
Note: The operation of the Maid of the Mist cruise is subject to favourable weather and/or river conditions. Usually favourable conditions exist from May to the end of October. When unfavourable conditions exist, a walking tour through the scenic tunnels will be substituted.

DAY 3: Toronto - Kingston - Ivy Lea - Ottawa.
Leave Ontario's capital and stop in Kingston, a city with an exciting history dating back more than 300 years. Continue to quaint Gananoque and Ivy Lea, where you'll enjoy a scenic cruise along the St Lawrence River, past wooded islands dotted with beautiful summer homes. Then proceed along the route of the Rideau Canal to Ottawa, standing at the confluence of the Ottawa, Gatineau and Rideau rivers.

DAY 4: Ottawa.
Queen Victoria chose this small lumber town as the site for Canada's capital, neatly avoiding the conflicting views of Toronto and Montreal. This morning see the Canadian Mint, the embassy district, stately Parliament Hill and Rideau Falls. Also visit the Royal Canadian Mounted Police stables. Suggestions for this afternoon include the magnificent Canadian Museum of Civilisation or the array of restaurants and shops at the lively Byward Market.

DAY 5: Ottawa - Quebec City.
Today drive into the French-Canadian province of Quebec, where you'll notice a change in language and tradition. Journey along the picturesque Ottawa River Valley for a late afternoon arrival in historic Quebec City, the heart of French Canada and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

DAY 6: Quebec City.
Start the day with a guided tour of North America's only walled city, crowned by the great turrets of the Chateau Frontenac. Old Quebec was the centre of New France and is now one of the most historic and best-preserved cities in North America. Within the walls are the Place d'Armes, the Laval Seminary and the star-plan Citadelle. Also see the stone houses crowding the narrow streets of Lower Town and ancient Place Royal by the St Lawrence River, and the historic Plains of Abraham where General Wolfe stormed the slopes. The afternoon is free.

DAY 7: Quebec City - Montreal.
Head south, and late this morning cosmopolitan Montreal comes into view. As you enter the world's second largest French-speaking city, you'll see the canted tower of the Olympic Stadium. Major attractions on this afternoon's sightseeing tour include Old Montreal, Notre Dame Basilica and the Seminary of St Sulpice, Mont Royal and modern Montreal. In the evening be sure to try out one of the many sidewalk cafés specialising in French cuisine with a Canadian influence.

DAY 8: Montreal - UK.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK.

DAY 9: Home landing in the UK.

Maximum elevation on this tour is 1,600 ft.
Note: Please note that early and late season weather may make some of the optional excursions unavailable.
