Rome at leisure
5 DAYS FROM £550

This holiday has departures available between: 3rd Apr 2009 to 6th Nov 2009
861 Stephen Gale UK We booked the Hotel Ponte Sisto for our Rome at Leisure trip with Archers Direct and had a fantastic time! We can't recommend the hotel enough. Walking distance to absolutely everything and the best coffee at breakfast I've ever had. Breakfast in the courtyard is a sheer delight and there is a peace and tranquillity there which is an absolute must when you're bang in the centre of any capital city.

You can stroll to the Pantheon and Trevi fountain within 10 minutes. Campo Di Fiori and Piazza Navonna are just around the corner. The Vatican is a 20-minute walk along the river. There are a number of restaurants in a 60 second walk over the bridge in Trastevere and the Gelateria's are selling the best ice cream on planet earth! There's a nice little supermarket next door where you buy cheap bottled water for your trips.

On the Sunday we did the organised trip to Tivoli, which was also a delight but a bit rushed. You spend less than an hour at Villa Este, which isn't enough. Probably better to take the local bus from Ponte Mammolo station, so you can spend the whole day there.
