Enjoy the stark beauty of Fraser Canyon, the raging turbulence of Hell's Gate and the fertile fields of the Fraser Valley, surrounded by the snow-capped Coast Mountains.

The Rocky Mountaineer & Calgary

Starting our Rocky Mountaineer adventure in Calgary a multitude of landmarks, both modern and ancient, whisks by. Take in Calgary Tower, the enormous Fort Calgary, and the commanding skyline of this industrialised city. Moving towards Banff National Park, we scurry through the foothills, snow-capped peaks, glistening glaciers and emerald green lakes on our way to Banff.

Established in 1885, Banff National Park is Canada's oldest, attracting millions to the ice cool sparkling Lake Louise every year. All across the area, reminders of the raw heritage of the area are visible in the wildlife present. Look out for grizzly bears, eagles, wolves and mousse as the Rocky Mountaineer thunders across astonishing mountain scenery, through the awe inspiring Icefields Parkway.

Pristine azure lakes reflect the healing sun's rays as we continue on the Rocky Mountaineer along two mountain passes northwards towards the gigantic Columbia Icefield for our scheduled snowcoach ride over the 1,000 – foot – thick Athabasca Glacier. Once disembarked, there is also the optional excursion of an exciting raft ride down Athabasca River. After you have soaked up the splendours of Lake Louise, it is onto jolly Jasper.

The largest of Canada's Rocky Mountain national parks, Jasper National Park is a haven of natural beauty and a living testimony to a veritable timeline of human societies and histories over thousands of years. Set your sights on the Miette Hotsprings, Sunwapta and Athabasca Falls, the commanding glaciers of Mount Edith Cavell, and, as part of our sightseeing tour, the cavernous Maligne Canyon. With plenty of spare time, why not take a stroll through the forests, take in the fresh air, and look out for some native wildlife.

The Rocky Mountaineer & Kamloops

As the Rocky Mountaineer thunders onwards, we pass the highest mountain in all of Canada, Mount Robson, which, at just fewer than 13,000 feet tall, is an awe-inspiring sight that will leave you speechless. The route towards Kamloops takes you alongside the mighty Thompson River past the vast panoramas of the Monashee Mountains, which are interspersed with vast icefields, dazzling you with sunlight.

Upon arrival at Kamloops, a major cattle ranch, you have the choice of joining your hosts at Two River Junction, where you can experience dining frontier style, where you can expect your fair share of delicious authentic dishes, accompanied by live traditional music acts.

The Rocky Mountaineer & Vancouver

Back aboard the Rocky Mountaineer, we venture to the Southwestern corner of Canada to the expansive city of Vancouver, which itself is flanked by the grand Coast mountain range. The third largest city in Canada, Vancouver is a balanced mixture of tranquil forestry and a modern 21 st century city. Once we arrive in Vancouver, our excursion focuses on a sight seeing trip to the beautiful harbour, the colourful Butchart Gardens, Thunderbird park with it's collection of ancient native Indian artefacts and an in – depth glance at the city of Victoria, where we will focus the end of our Rocky Mountaineer quest.

Experience the warmest climate in Canada in peaceful, relaxing Victoria. Nicknamed the ‘Garden City' due to its vivacious plant life, your eye will be drawn in by the colourful flora adorning the streets and the warm, enriching aroma that will enliven your senses throughout the regions many parks and public gardens. Away from the inner city, the Pacific Ocean laps up along the coast, whilst mountain vistas overlook the entire scenario. Dine on the freshest cuisine in some of Vancouver's chic and stylish modern restaurants and bars, serving fresh seafood pulled from the ocean, prepared by some of the finest chefs in the world.
