A great diversity awaits any visitor to Tunisia, perched on the edge of the Mediterranean 130 kilometres southwest of Sicily. You'll find a contrast of landscapes from the vast Sahara in the south, to towering mountains and a lush interior, complemented by the sweeping coastal beaches and white-washed buildings.

Hammamet is Tunisia's major seaside playground with a wide sandy beach, where no hotel can be built higher than its adjacent trees. Much of the resort is built in a modern Moorish-style, whilst the Medina in the old town, is walled and guarded by a tawny coloured 15th century Kasbah, whose old watch towers offer a hawk's-eye view of the surrounding warren of streets below. The town is alive with workshops, souvenir arcades and boutiques as well as a more modern complex, giving visitors plenty of shopping possibilities. Transfer time from Tunis airport:
