Day 1

UK - Memphis

On arrival in Memphis you will be met by your representative and transferred to your hotel for one night. The evening is free for you to relax or explore the city. The hotel hospitality desk is open from 1pm to 8pm if you need information or sightseeing suggestions.

Day 2

Memphis

After breakfast head to the Voyage Check-In area where a representative will arrange your transfers to the vessel later that day. Use the remainder of your time in Memphis to explore. You may want to join the premium morning city tour to Graceland and Beale Street, or choose to tour the city at your own pace. Embankment onto American Duchess begins at 3.30pm.

Day 3

Helena

Your first stop along the Mississippi River is the small town of Helena in Arkansas. Today’s sightseeing includes the Delta Cultural Center, where you can learn more about the Delta through interactive exhibits. You will see historic architecture at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Pillow-Thompson House, as well as exploring the town’s cultural history at Freedom Park and the Helena Museum of Phillips County.

Day 4

Vicksburg

Arrive in Vicksburg, a southern town with plenty of history. Described by Abraham Lincoln as the ‘Key to the South’, this Civil War city is home to a number of museums, including the Old Court House Museum, Anchuca Mansion, the Old Depot Museum and the Lower Mississippi River Museum. As Vicksburg is the town where Coca-Cola was first bottled, today’s shore excursions also include the very popular Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum.

Day 5

Natchez

Today your journey brings you to Natchez, the oldest city on the Mississippi River. Learn more about your surroundings with a day of guided sightseeing. Your shore excursions include several 19th century mansions as well as a visit to the Natchez Association for the Preservation of Afro-American Culture Museum. Here you can view poignant multimedia exhibits on Afro-Americans during the Civil War and Civil Rights era. Continue your learning at the William Johnson House Museum, which showcases diary extracts from a former freed slave.

Day 6

Baton Rouge

Louisiana’s capital, Baton Rouge is a city with a rich culture and poignant history. Home to the largest building in the United States and a number of antebellum mansions, the city is great for sightseeing. Spend the day exploring what Baton Rouge has to offer, from the museums and architecture to the shops and southern cuisine. You can explore Louisiana’s cultural heritage at the Capitol Park Museum and LSU Museum of Art, and there is an opportunity to get a bird’s eye view of the Mississippi River from the iconic State Capitol building. The Old Arsenal Museum and St. Joseph Cathedral are also included in your shore excursions.

Day 7

St Francisville

Experience Louisiana’s southern charm in the small town of St. Francisville. Your day begins at Royal Street in the heart of the Historic District. Spend some time wandering around admiring the 19th century architecture. There are a number of quirky cafes and boutiques for you to enjoy, including Grandmother Buttons, a unique shop that offers jewellery made from 100 year-old buttons. Browse the local art at the Harrington Gallery, or for a little history, you can visit the former magistrate’s office, Market Hall.

Day 8

Nottoway

Today, take a step back to 18th Century America at the Nottoway Plantation, the South’s largest remaining sugar cane estate. Nicknamed the ‘The White Castle of Louisiana’, this grand plantation sits in a great location along the great River Road, overlooking the grand Mississippi River. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the grounds, including the ‘White Ballroom’ and its beautiful landscaped gardens.

Day 9

New Orleans - UK

Disembark in New Orleans and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK, or extend your stay in the city.
