Holland's delightful 700-year old capital is a fascinating blend of old and new, with a sophisticated modern spirit and rich history displayed in the works of the Dutch Masters at its world-famous Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum. Admire Amsterdam's pretty bridges, tree-lined streets and gabled merchants' houses - many dating back to the Netherlands' 'Golden Age' in the 17th century on an optional guided tour this morning. In the afternoon, have free time in Amsterdam or join an optional excursion to Haarlem. Dutch Haarlem dates back to Gothic times and this is reflected in its architecture and cobbled streets. Later, cruise to Emmerich-Am-Rhein.

Mainz was founded more than 2,000 years ago by the Romans and is currently the capital of the Rhineland-Palatinate. Cruise through the night to Strasbourg.
Strasbourg is a delightful blend of cobbled lanes and half-timbered houses which has changed hands between the French and Germans down the centuries. Discover the European Parliament building, tour the interior of the stunning Gothic cathedral and visit the La Petite France old quarter, where 500-year-old houses cluster around miniature canals. An optional guided tour will show you the very best of this beautiful city. Later, cruise to Breisach and admire the magnificent wine-producing region en route. Tonight, there will be a Gala evening on-board.

the rhine is not a very scenic river apart from a short trip through the black forest.elsewhere it is either very flat and has a lot of industrial factories on either side.
Very disappoint with the views of the Rhine for the first 4 days it was ports, power stations and factorys very disappointing
We had been on two croisi cruises (Portugal & Spain) which were excellent but unfortunately we were really disappointed with this cruise. The food was no where near the standard of the previous cruises I would suggest that a buffet lunch is served every day as this seemed more enjoyable than the set meal. We sailed far more at night therefore missing scenery & locks. The mooring in Basel was awful right opposite a recycling depot & a long way from the centre of Basel it was made worse by our flight not being until late afternoon so we were on the boat with no where to have lunch or walk to. A really disappointing holiday especially as two friends from Australia joined us for the trip.
Overall an enjoyable holiday. A couple of areas (whilst on board), that we found disappointing which I feel would be better mentioned in an email.
Very good value for the money we paid.Archers staff were very helpful
