Our VIP home pick-up service is included up to 50 miles to your departure airport. Your driver will happily load and unload your luggage, and drive you to your departure terminal. See its best-known treasures on a guided sightseeing tour, including the Old Town's astronomical clock, Hradcany Castle grounds, St Vitus Cathedral and the Charles Bridge. Browse the shops for hand-cut crystal or art books, mingle with the locals in Wenceslas Square or stroll alongside the Vltava River. This evening, join your local guide for a pubs of Prague tour.

Prague - Regensburg - Deggendorf (Embarkation)

Included today: Regensburg guided sightseeing. Travel by coach to Regensburg, where you will have a guided sightseeing tour including the Altes (Old Town Hall), built in the 13th century and Porta Pretoria, gates to an ancient Roman fort built in 179 AD. During your free time grab a beer and enjoy an included snack at Historische Wurstkuche (Old Sausage Kitchen) one of Germany's oldest restaurants. Transfer to Deggendorf for your onboard welcome reception.

Passau

Day
4

Included today: Guided walk. Passau is a maze of narrow cobblestone streets lined with beautiful patrician houses. St. Stephen's Cathedral, a masterpiece of Italian baroque architecture, houses one of the world's largest church organs with 17,774 pipes. Join your Local Guide for a walking tour through this charming town, and find out much more about the 'City of Three Rivers'. Later, joing your local guide to visits Aldersbach Brewery and taste their beers. This afternoon, cruise towards Linz.

Linz, Austria

Day

Included today: Guided sightseeing. Linz is Austria's third-largest city and an important river port where culture plays a significant role in everyday life. This morning join a local expert for a guided tour. See the 13th-century Hauptplatz, Austria's largest medieval square, and the Trinity Column, built in 1723 as thanks for the city escaping the ravages of the plague, war and fire. On your own you might like to wander around the old castle grounds and take in the beautiful views of the river, or visit the neo-Gothic New Cathedral, Austria's largest church, with capacity for 20,000 visitors. Alternatively, you might choose to join one of several full day optional excursions to medieval Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; to Salzburg with its Sound of Music sites; or the popular 'Romantic Austria' tour. Tonight, enjoy a food and beer pairing dinner hosted by your beer expert.

Melk - Durnstein

Included today: Guided visit of the Benedictine Abbey in Melk; cruise through the Wachau Valley; guided walk in Durnstein; wine tasting This morning our first stop is Melk. Enjoy a guided tour of the magnificent 11th century Benedictine Abbey, dominating the town from its commanding hill site and one of Europe's largest monasteries. The Abbey houses an ornate library with over 80,000 printed books and 2,000 manuscripts. You'll be captivated by the splendour of the church with its frescoed ceilings, stunning high altar, marble statues and 210 foot high cupola. The view from the terrace overlooking the Danube and surrounding countryside is breathtaking. Sail into the picturesque Wachau Valley. In the afternoon your local guide will take you on an included walking tour of Durnstein where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned in the castle that still stands above the town.

Included today: Guided sightseeing. Also known as the 'City of Music', Vienna inspired the creative genius of Mozart, Beethoven and Strauss and was once the centre of the mighty Habsburg Empire. See the lavish Hofburg Imperial Palace complex, with its Vienna Boys' Choir and Lipizzaner stallions, the impressive neo-Renaissance Vienna Opera House, and awe-inspiring St Stephen's Cathedral on your included guided sightsseing with a local guide. Stroll on the Kärntnerstrasse and enjoy Sachertorte or Apfelstrüdel in a classic Viennese coffee house. Visit the Ottakringer Brewery, a medium-size family business that stands for the successful combination of tradition and innovation in brewing, using only the clearest water from their own spring, the finest hops and solely Austrian barley, This evening, join our beer expert for some beers during a pub visit in Vienna.

At the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains is Bratislava, the dynamic capital of Slovakia. Also visit the Gothic St Martin's Cathedral, coronation church for the Kingdom of Hungary from the 16th to 19th centuries.

This afternoon, explore this vibrant city at your own pace, perhaps strolling across the famed Chain Bridge, a symbol of Budapest built in 1849 that connects ancient Buda on the right bank with Pest on the left. Avalon Waterways do not accept bookings for children under 8. There are no special arrangements or activities on board for children and they cannot accept bookings from unaccompanied children under 18 years of age and any travellers under this age must share the adult’s accommodation.

Avalon Waterways will try their best to accommodate dietary requirements if they are mentioned at the time of booking.

Disabled Facilities

Passengers must report any disability to Avalon before any reservation is made so that Avalon may advise whether they and/or their suppliers for any particular holiday are able to accommodate the passengers. Avalon may rely on the information provided to them by the passengers regarding the details of any disability in order to make a decision as to whether the passengers can be accommodated. Avalon will make reasonable attempts to accommodate the special needs of disabled passengers, in accordance with the applicable laws.Not all sightseeing stops/sites accommodate wheelchairs and some locations and sightseeing activities require extensive standing, sitting or walking. Dress Code

The dress code for dinner is casual and comfortable. The Welcome and Farewell Dinners give you a chance to dress up but are not formal.

Smoking is only allowed on the ships outside decks where ash trays are provided.

Relax after a long day and play a game with your fellow guests at the game area towards the rear of the deck.

Fitness Centre

The ship is fitted with a fully equipped Fitness Centre for you to release some tension.

Shore Excursions

On shore, Avalon includes a great range of comprehensive sightseeing excursions led by knowledgable Certified Local Guides. They also provide individual personal audio headsets to ensure you still have the freedom to roam through some of Europe's most famous attractions without missing a moment of fascinating commentary.

If you'd like to experience something slightly off the beaten track, they offer unique alternative excursions in select destinations. In many cities they also give you a choice of sightseeing pace: 'Traditional' to see all the major sights, 'Leisurely' available on walking tours when you want to take it slower, and 'Independent' allowing you to explore on your own. Have a chat with your Cruise Director to learn about the available options.

They even provide Nordic walking sticks to put that extra spring in your step!

Dining Room

A spacious, open-seating dining room with elegant dining service and large panoramic windows is situated on the Sapphire deck. With an elegantly simple design, you can enjoy a full buffet breakfast or lunch with special options for those who wish to eat lightly, and delicious four-course dinners in the evening.

The Panorama Lounge & Bistro, with floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows for a stunning view, offers a casual atmosphere for guests to enjoy a variety of regional and tapas-style dishes, hand-paired with local wines.
