Ketchikan

Day
7

Situated on Revillagigedo Island is the colourful Ketchikan, known as the salmon capital of the world. Ketchikan is backed by forested hills facing a picturesque waterway with fishing boats, floatplanes and ferries, and is abundant with bars and charismatic totem poles. Ketchikan is charmingly small at just a few miles long and only a few blocks wide and it located just 90-miles north of Prince Rupert. Optional excursions include Indian Heritage Villages, Totem Bight State Park and 'flightseeing' to Misty Fjords National Monument.

Juneau

Day
8

Alaska's capital, Juneau, is only accessible by seaplane or boat and has a Gold Rush story to rival that of Klondike. Choose between joining an optional wildlife cruise, a salmon fishing trip or an excursion to the Mendenhall Glacier. In the winter, Juneau is a hive of legislators and their loyal aides, and in the summer it's alive with waves of tourists. It's arguably the most scenically pleasing capital of the nation. Walk the maze of narrow streets and slanted houses, moulded within a network of staircases within the city centre. Soak up the bustling atmosphere along the waterfront with cruises ships, fishing boats and floatplanes continuously buzzing in and out. And finally, view the Juneau Ice Field which covers the Coastal range, with glaciers that tumble down between the mountainsides, a quaint frame to the charming city.

Meals included:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner

Skagway

Day
9

Arrive in Skagway, one of the driest places in the Southeast and a gateway to Alaska's Klondike Gold Rush of Canada's Yukon. Skagway still has old-fashioned, weathered boardwalks and old-time saloons. Explore the trails and historic railways or take advantage of the excellent dining options. Skagway is a truly spectacular place to arrive in by sea, and you'll find many people dressed as they would in the former gold-rush days. It's a strange city, a city of conflicts and contrasts, bordering a waterway that never freezes. It's most surreal feature is that its roads lead to nowhere making it the most geographically secluded state capital in the country. Optional sightseeing includes a ride in a vintage parlour car to see the White Pass and Yukon route. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore, before setting sail again later in the evening.

Tracy Arm Fjord

Day
10

Named after Civil War general Benjamin Franklin Tracy, this narrow fjord is located approximately 50 miles southeast of Juneau. Breathtaking Tracy Arm extends over 30 miles long, with nearly a quarter of its area covered in ice. In fact, it encompasses some of Alaska's largest glaciers, including the twin Sawyer glaciers, which often expel enormous chunks of ice into the waters below in a magnificent process known as calving. During the summer when Princess ships visit, icebergs float along the surface of the glistening water in an array of sizes, from just a few inches up to three stories wide. Protected within the Tongass National Forest, Tracy Arm Fjord is a haven for wildlife. Black and brown bears, deer, wolves, harbor seals, mountain goats and a variety of seabirds have been spotted in the area. As you glide through the pristine fjord, you'll first pass by a lush forest where a number of beautiful waterfalls cascade down, and then you'll be treated to views of snowcapped mountains and blue-tinged glaciers more spectacular than you could ever imagine.
