we are a couple 60+ and wanted to see Boston New York and Washington. We had a great time. The local guides were very helpful. The free hop on hop off bus vouchers were brilliant in all three cities. The hotels were all comfortable and in good locations. The Sheraton Boston was close to the hop on hop off bus stop. The Holiday Inn Express New York was 10 min walk from Time Square and very close to restaurants in 9th Avenue. The Plaza in Washington was a 20 minute walk to the White House. There was a shuttle bus for the hop on hop off bus outside a hotel across the road. Local transport in all three cities was easy to use. Our only criticism of the holiday was the luggage racks on the Amtrak trains. We had 2 suitcases weighing 20kg each. You had to lift them on to overhead racks and over a low bar. This made it very difficult to take the luggage off at the end of the journey. if you are not very tall you have to stand on the seat. You also need two people to lift the case. The trains were packed to capacity, so getting off within 5 minutes before the train continued its journey was a bit fraught. Apart from that the trains were comfortable and clean. The toilets were also clean and large. All in all we thought this was a good way of seeing three beautiful American cities. All very different and all interesting. Thank you Archers

23rd September 2016

Boston hotel a dissapointment, but I have sent email re this. We lost one day of our holiday through room being flooded and no other room available. New york hotel very good but transfer from hotel to train station "manic"as taxis did not pass hotel and it was left to several of our group to flag down taxis on next street for 12 persons. Not an easy task at 6 a.m.
