Fly to San Francisco and transfer to your hotel. This evening, meet your travelling companions and Tour Director for a welcome drink.
This morning, enjoy sightseeing in San Francisco. See the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, including the Golden Gate Bridge and the Presidio and then Fisherman's Wharf and Twin Peaks. Next a local favourite to visit the Japanese Tea Garden, the oldest public Japanese garden in the US. Learn about the history of the park and enjoy time to explore the five acres of native Japanese plants, serene Koi ponds, pagodas and more. Later, cross the iconic Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito for waterfront views, breathtaking scenery and the vibrant downtown area. Return to San Francisco by ferry to get the best city views. The rest of the day is at leisure before dinner at a local restaurant.
Journey inland to charming Napa and the wine growing region that California is world famous for. Rolling vine covered hills add a European vista.
This morning, continue southwards through the Sierra Nevadas to Yosemite National Park. Yosemite has innumerable lakes, meadows, ice sculpted domes, forest, waterfalls and unspoilt alpine scenery. It is truly stunning. At the bottom of the 4,000 ft valley board an open air tram to explore the sites of El Capitan, Cathedral Spires, Yosemite Falls and Half Dome.
Experience the famous 17 Mile Drive on the route today. See famous Pebble Beach Golf Course and the tenacious Lone Cypress tree. There is a visit to Carmel, a popular haven for writers, artists and celebrities. Continue to Monterey and Cannery Row, immortalised by John Steinbeck in his novel of the same name. Included is a visit to the world famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, followed by a special dinner overlooking the bay.
Continue down 'The Big Sur' State Road 1 from Monterey to San Simeon and witness some of the most spectacular scenery on the Californian Coast. At San Simeon visit Heart Castle, the opulent mansion of the newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst. An included tour shows off the highlights of the impressive 123-acre estate.
Arrive in Solvang, where Denmark has been recreated with picturesque buildings and windmills. Enjoy a local favourite with coffee and a danish speciality at a local bakery, followed by free time to browse charming shops featuring everything Danish.
Travel to Santa Barbara via the Ynez Mountains where the Spanish influence is apparent in quaint whitewashed and tile roofed buildings. Included is a visit to the 200 hear old Mission with it's world famous twin bell towers. Enjoy the views of celebrity homes that dot the shoreline from Malibu to Santa Monica before arriving in Los Angeles.
Enjoy an included sightseeing tour of this most famous of cities. See Olvera Street - the oldest thoroughfare in the city to Hollywood. Visit TCL Chinese Theatre to see the hand and foot prints of the stars. Continue to Sunset Strip and Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Later, visit the Getty Museum to see a collection of Western Art from the Middle Ages to the present. Join your Tour Director this evening for a farewell dinner.
