Day 1

UK - Reykjavik

Fly to Reykjavik where you will be transferred to your hotel for the evening.

Day 2

Reykiavik - Snæfellsness - Grundarfjördur

Start your day with a scenic drive through the Snæfellsness peninsula, made famous by Jules Verne in ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’. Stop first in the fishing village of Arnarstapi before continuing your journey to the beautiful volcanic shores of Djúpalónssandur beach. Later, travel west to Grundarfjörður.

Day 3

Gundarfjördur - Eiriksstadir - Akureyri

After breakfast take a drive through the Haukadalur valley, enjoying the views of steaming geysers along the way. Visit the homestead of notorious Viking, Erik the Red, before continuing your journey along the valley to Akureyri.

Day 4

Akureyri - Godafoss - Myvatn - Dimmuborgir - Akureyri

This morning depart Akureyi and head for one of Iceland’s most precious natural wonders, Goðafoss, the ‘Waterfall of the Gods’. After some time soaking up the sights, drive along the Mývatn River to Skútustaðir, enjoying glorious views of the volcano vistas along the way. Stop to see Iceland’s famous pseudocraters before heading to the spectacular Dimmuborgir lava fields. Later, continue your nature tour to Námaskarð, a barren terrain of mud pools and steam baths on the north side of the lake, before journeying to the active volcanic region of Kafla where steaming vents and craters await. Finish your day at a soothing nature bath in Mývatn.

Day 5

Akureyri - Deildartunguhver - Reykholt

Enjoy a full day of sightseeing, starting at Deildartunguhver the most powerful hot spring in Europe. Next, make a stop at Reykholt, a small outpost famous for being the home of one of Iceland’s best known authors, Snorri Sturluson. The Hraunfossar lava waterfalls are the next stop of the day. Enjoy some time to soak up this natural phenomenon before ending your tour at the nearby Barnafoss waterfalls.

Day 6

Reykholt - Thingvellir - Geysir - Gullfoss - Reykjavik

Situated on the northern shore of Lake Thingvellir, Thingvellir National Park is Iceland’s most prized historical treasure. Coined ‘Parliament Plains’, the area houses the oldest remaining parliament in the world, as well as a wealth of unique natural features. Spend this morning exploring the area before continuing on to to Geysir, the original hot water sprout. Later, visit the country’s most famous waterfall, Gullfoss, before returning to Reykjavik where you will spend the evening.

Day 7

Reykjavik - South Shore - Reykyavik

Explore the South Shore today including the graceful, ribbon-like waterfall of Seljalandsfoss and the awesome 60m cascade of Skógafoss waterfall. Visit the tiny settlement of Skogar, to admire turf-clad homesteads and perhaps view the delightful folk museum before continuing to the seaside village of Vik, where a lunar-like landscape of black sand beaches and surreal rock stacks is home to wildlife such as puffins, which are usually found in the summer, and seal colonies. Later, marvel at the beauty of the crisp ice of the Sólheimajökull glacier ice-wall and enjoy a visit to Eyrarbakki village before heading back to Reykjavik.

Reykjavik - UK

After breakfast transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
