Day 2

Arrive Kuala Lumpur

On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. This evening experience Kuala Lumpar's lively food culture. Learn about Malaysian customs and culture and visit spots like mamak stalls or round-the-clock hawkers centres (open-air food courts). Sample street food from local food stalls and discover hidden gems.

Day 3

Kuala Lumpur

Enjoy a cultural and heritage tour of Kuala Lumpar, which will take you through the Heritage Trails of the early cultures in Malaysia – an insight into Malaysia’s multi-cultural society. Key sights include Chan See Shu Yuen Clan House, China town, Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, Central Market, Sze Yeh Temple, Jamek Mosque and Sultan Abdul Samad Building. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4

Kuala Lumpur - Malacca - Kuala Lumpur

Enjoy a full day tour of the numerous historical landmarks of Malacca. Visit St. Peter’s Church (1710), drive past the largest 17th century Chinese cemetery outside of China, located at Chinese Hill, and stop at the foothill to view the Sultan’s Well before driving through the Portuguese Settlement. Proceed to view the famous gateway, ‘Port De Santiago’ and the ruins of St. Paul’s Church lined by 17th century Dutch tombstones. After lunch visit the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple – the only temple where you can find three major doctrines of local Chinese belief under the same roof: Taoim, Buddhism and Confucianism. Finish your day with a Malacca River boat ride. Return to the hotel in the evening.

Day 5

Kuala Lumpur - Cameron Highlands

This morning visit the limestone hills of Batu Caves, which comprises of three caverns and several smaller caves. A flight of 272 steps lead up to the temple cave. Afterwards continue to the hill resort of Cameron Highlands. William Cameron, a British surveyor who stumbled across the plateau in 1885 during a mapping expedition, discovered Cameron Highlands. Failing to mark his discovery on the map, the location of the plateau was a finally confirmed by subsequent expeditions. In 1925, Sir George Maxwell visited the highlands and decided to develop it as a hill station. A development committee was then formed which functioned until 1931. During this time, the winding road up to the highlands was constructed and this enormous task was done entirely by manual labour. Arrive at Ringlet where you will have an afternoon tea at The Lakehouse. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening is at leisure.

Day 6

Cameron Highlands

Travel along along the picturesque rolling tea gardens toward the Gunung Brinchang, located 6,666 feet above sea level. Enjoy a ‘tea talk’ with breathtaking views of the tea garden. Later take a guided walk with a nature guide into Mossy forest, revealing some of the exotic floras like the Pitcher plant, Orchids, Primitive Ferns, Spices and Medicinal Plants. A short drive down from the mountain will bring you to the Sungei Palas ‘BOH’ Tea Factory. Learn how tea is made with a Tea Bush Walk followed by a factory tour where you can sample to taste the different level and grade of tea. Finish off with a relaxing tea and snacks served at the café with a magnificent view of the tea plantation. After, enjoy a guided tour of the Cameron Highlands covering the Rose Garden and vegetable farms.

Cameron Highlands - Penang

Journey north to the island of Penang, crossing the Penang bridge en-route.

Day 8

Penang

Meet your guide this morning and proceed to the oldest wet market in Georgetown. Take a stroll down the market and try your hand at haggling. There are many different food stalls offering morning breakfasts - ask about the all time favourites Roti Bakar & Kopi O. After walk the streets of Georgetown, seeing St. George’s Church and the Goddess of Mercy Temple. Pass through colourful stalls where flower garlands are made, walk past King street, and see the spice and saree shops, before visiting Sri Mariamman Temple (Hindu Temple). Your final stop is the Khoo Kongsi.

Day 9

Penang - Sandakan - Sepilok

Fly to Sandakan. On arrival transfer to your hotel.

Day 10

Sandakan - Abai

This morning visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre to observe man's closest relative being rehabilitated to their natural habitat. Later take an hour boat cruise up to the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary for lunch at Abai Jungle Restaurant. This is a wonderful journey of discovery which starts from the waters of Sulu Sea of Sandakan Town through a magnificent scenery of the Mangrove Forest. Check in at Abai Jungle Logde. Late in the afternoon, take a cruise to search for wildlife until the sunsets.

Day 11

Abai.

Early morning take a river trip to Pitas Oxbow Lake to observe wildlife. After breakfast, you are invited to join the tree planting project with the locals and enjoy a simple lunch arranged by the villagers at Abai Village. After lunch, you are free to explore the nature boardwalk behind the lodge. Make sure you bring along your binoculars for a change to spot wild Orangutan, Silver leaf monkeys, birds and other wildlife. Later enjoy another river cruise.

Day 12

Abai - Sandakan - UK

After breakfast, take the boat back to Sandakan then transfer to airport for your flight back to the UK.
