Excitement; energy; reinvention: New York is quite simply a city like no other with an attitude to boot. Enjoy a full day to explore the ‘Big Apple’, and soak up the charged atmosphere of this thrilling destination. On today's sightseeing tour, see New York City's major attractions including Broadway, the Empire State Building, Greenwich Village, bustling Chinatown, City Hall, Wall Street and Trinity Church, tucked away in Lower Manhattan. Take your pick from hundreds of restaurants and then return to Broadway to catch an evening show.
Leave Manhattan and head north-west through the forested peaks of the Pocono Mountains and across the scenic farmlands of upstate New York. In the afternoon, cross the border to the Canadian side of the Niagara River in the province of Ontario.
Actually comprised of three waterfalls, Niagara Falls is an essential bucket list experience – a surging, exhilarating panorama of cascading water. See the thundering columns up close from the decks of a sightseeing cruise and then from scenic points along the rim of the gorge. Your afternoon is free to visit local attractions such as the Butterfly Conservatory, Great Gorge Adventure, Botanical Gardens and Niagara Parks Greenhouse. Don’t miss the chance to ride the aerial cable high above the racing Niagara River.
Head south-east, through the lush forests of the Appalachian Mountains - among the oldest mountains on Earth - and on into the winding Susquehanna River Valley. Arrive in Philadelphia, the ‘City of Brotherly Love’, for an overnight stay.
In the morning, tour the city’s key historical landmarks such as Independence Hall and the famous Liberty Bell, the iconic symbol of American independence situated on 6th & Market Street, and other sites within Independence National Historic Park. Afterwards, continue to the US capital and seat of government, Washington DC.
This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour with a local guide that includes a visit to Arlington National Cemetery and see the graves of American heroes, including those of John F Kennedy and his brother Robert. After, visit the Lincoln Memorial with photo stops at Capitol Hill and the White House. Afternoon and evening are at leisure.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK, or extend your stay in Washington, New York or with a cruise.
Niagara Falls: Operation of the sightseeing cruise is subject to favourable weather/river conditions. A walking tour through the scenic tunnels will be offered as a replacement

New York extension: Transfer from Washington is by coach on the last day of your tour
Accommodation as stated or similar
The tour fitted a lot in during the week which is just what I wanted. I did agree to share a room with another single female which was fine *Personal Details removed by Feefo*
Great holiday but felt a bit rushed at times All the major tourist sites were covered but didn't feel there was enough time to appreciate some of them
We found the 2 days travelling to and from Niagara very long and tiring with only service station stops.
Loved them both. Really enjoyed Mark taking us round. Especially moved by the 9/11 memorial. Washington excellent too. Loved the evening tour and the visit to Arlington, Capitol and the White House. Only one problem was the arrangements for transport in New York. The system at the airport was very chaotic and needs looking at. We had to wait an hour and a half for transport to the Hotel.
Did not expect a suite on the top floor of the Excelsior.
the places were wonderful but some of the hotels let Archers down. Most had seen better days. Rooms in some were dirty, broken plugs off walls, paper peeling off walls which was a very big let down. The worst thing about some of the hotels was where they were. Really out of the way places with nothing to do and nothing to visit but sit in your room or hotel bar when having free time. Some of the hotels were so far away from everything we had to pay taxis to get us to a place to have a meal rather than the hotel which prices were extortionate. The Washington DC hotel was not in Washington DC but in Alexandria VIRGINIA.. another state which took us 40 minutes to get to Washington for the sight seeing. That hotel was drab and dirty. Archers/Cosmos ought to really think about their hotels and where they are situated as many on the tour said they were very disappointed with that aspect of the tour and would not use Archers/Cosmos again... But the holiday had very interesting places to see and really good excursions.
We saw all we expected and more besides in a short space of time which is what we wanted. The only feedback would be the poor rotation of coach seats. Previous trips we rotated in a clockwise direction every 3 or 4 rows which worked very well, however this time we just moved forwards and backwards and ended up sitting with the same people all the time.
A good tour with plenty to see.
