After breakfast, travel through the lush Sri Lankan countryside to Sri Lanka's hill capital, Kandy. Nestled amongst forested hills, Kandy is one of Sri Lanka's most interesting cities. A jumble of culture, history and colonial buildings. En route visit a spice garden to learn about production in Sri Lanka. This afternoon, visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens which are renowned for their collection of orchids and medicinal plants. Later this evening visit a cultural show and be entertained by Kandyan dancers and drummers. There is also a visit to the Temple of the Tooth where it is believed that the tooth of the Buddha is enshrined.
Experience one of the world's most stunning rail journeys on this quintessential Sri Lankan rail service, with a scenic trip through the green hills and villages to 'Little England' Nuwara Eliya. This is the centre of the Sri Lankan tea industry and the well maintained terraces of tea plants is an unforgettable sight. The region is often shrouded in mist providing cool temperatures which along with the humidity and rainfall, provide the perfect climate for tea production. There is a visit to a Ceylon tea plantation and factory to learn about the cultivation process as well as fermenting, rolling, drying, cutting, sieving and grading of tea. Return to Kandy by road for dinner at the hotel.

Enjoy three full days at leisure relaxing in your resort hotel or exploring the area nearby.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK or the Maldives if you are extending your stay.
Excellent short tour of Sri Lanka. Very professional tour guide kept the tour safe in some very entertaining traffic! Hotel in Kandy could be improved but the others were great. Enjoyed the food which included excellent local spicy curries as well as more western style dishes. Loved the rail journey to Nuwara Eliya. We bought the Maldives extension in Bandos. This was as expected - beaches and swimming - and a little dull after Sri Lanka.
